La Colombe but DH doesn’t drink coffee

We *love* La Colombe. If you’re ever in NYC, go to their actual cafe, it’s even more amazing.

They’re from Philly, and have DC cafes.

~500K HHI...we buy whole SBX beans on sale at Costco and use our Jura automatic coffee/espresso machine. I use to make drip coffee using pre-ground SBX coffee beans when I was working in the office but it has been great to get freshly ground coffee while WFH.

I'm surprised you buy pre-ground at that HHI. No shame, of course, but I'm wondering if that's a time-saver or if you really just can't tell a difference.

I think coffee snobbery is largely an affectation that lets middle class people feel like they have extremely sophisticated tastes. Also if you grind it the night before you're not getting any real freshness benefit; if you grind it the morning of you wake up the house; if you wait to grind it until people are awake you didn't really need coffee in the first place.

This is exactly why we buy pre-ground coffee. I have zero interest in grinding coffee at 6:30 am, and if you don't do that, there's no benefit. So I'll just make my life easier.

I agree that freshly ground coffee is better - it's just not worth the trouble.

the fetishization of things like coffee, tea (matcha, etc.), and certain alcohols are uniquely american and generally stupid.

400k. We don’t have any particular kind we buy. We have a subscription to Atlas Coffee Co and we also buy whatever is on sale at the grocery or just get giant tubs of Folgers. We make a big pot in our old Cuisinart drip coffeemaker every morning. Nespresso Virtuoline for afternoon/evening.

$36,000. Flavored coffee beans delivered from Allegheny Coffee & Tea Company (Pittsburgh). Drip coffeemaker. Once in awhile (maybe 6 times per year) will go to Starbucks.

Folgers ground with a Mr. Coffee.

This isn't a money issue. It's a "I don't care and have kids/job/life issue."

400ish. The big starbucks french roast beans from costco that go on sale every other month. DH will also order fresh beans from san francisco coffee company or something like that every quarter or so. We either make french roast or espressos. We also have a nespresso machine in our gym for when we work out in the mornings.
