+1 BRYC and Metro United may be the only exception |
If you are not playing on your club team what’s the point? College coaches will think there is a problem- not good enough to start on a travel team. The larger problem is what if your DD does not play in college or gets one offer from a place she has no interest in attending. She just waste all those years basically being the practice team for the starter and never gets to play in the games. |
Well my kid plays for Loudoun ECNL and we in fact picked up two kids from the Red (CCL) team this fall. So, yes they are a feeder. But, thanks for the uninformed blather. Also, to the smarmy poster that stated McLean tied Loudoun 1-1, they dominated the game against us, missed about 4 point blank opportunities and we were lucky to tie. They are a superior team. However, in VA Richmond is the best team we’ve played this year. They have 3 players that are top class, are well coached and have no real weak spots other than they tend to over-possess at times. The NC and SC teams are a bit stronger overall but they have a few weak teams too. Anyhow from all the many, many 05 games I’ve watched over the last three years here is how I’d rank the NOVA teams currently: McLean ECNL and FCV GA (tied 1), Arlington GA(3), Loudoun ECNL(4), VDA ECNL(5), BRYC ECNL(6), Herndon CCL and Metro United (tied 7). If we throw in MD teams, then Bethesda ECNL and Pipeline would all be slightly lower than FCV/McLean but higher than Arlington, and MD United would be about the same as Arlington. |
Thank you for the write up, helps navigate the scene. |
| Nice honest and grounded write up by Loudoun dad |
| I believe that the coach at McLean and Herndon coaches another team in MoCo in the same age group and that team is also competitive. I don't know the name of the club but believe it is run by the county. |
| It’s called MSI and Nadir Moumen coaches that team too. Herndon and MSI are feeders to McLean and several of the new girls on 06 McLean ECNL team came from those clubs. |

OP here,
Is anyone aware of local 05s verbally committing? Also, I read an article in Soccer Wire that listed players being called to participate in a virtual YNT training. FCV, Pipeline, Richmond and VDA were listed. Is it fair to assume that those clubs are doing something right? |
Just watch training. Form your own opinion, you will never get useful information posting on here |
Isn’t OP kid playing in the CCL? Why are you asking about 05s verbally committing, Girls can’t take visits yet or speak on the phone with coaches so how would that happen? |
Doing some research I came across a list of a dozen or more 05s that are already committed. |
+2. Mclean has not taken anyone since U13 who wasn't already in the GA or ECNL. I know a number of very talented girls from CCL who were denied spots, even after practicing as a guest for months. You really have to move to the the GA/ECNL level at U13 to ever make some of these clubs. |
Sorry but I know several girls who joined McLean from non-ECNL/GA clubs. |
They must have committed over 2 years ago. (Before the recruiting rule changes) 05s won’t be able to commit under the current rules until later this summer. |
i'm the one you're replying to and for our year they have not. My daughter is with McLean. |
