FCV 05 recently scrimmaged BRYC 05 and won 2-1.
FCV will tell you they were not ready because it was off season etc. But that was the score. |
This nail was just hit on the head. Doesn't seem like too biased of a hammer either. Thanks. |
You failed to mention, as a point of comparison that McLean could only tie Loudoun 1-1 and that they have only won games against 11th and 12th place VDA and BRYC respectively. McLean struggles against teams with winning records. And that McLean struggle out of conference. So let’s pump the breaks a little. A decent team but a perfect example of the overall NOVA dilution of talent |
And your child plays for whom again? Won’t tell us will you |
Don’t be offended, the records are out there and the fact is outside of a team here or there NOVA “Elite” soccer is very diluted. So, to the CCL parent, you have choice. All ECNL/GA teams will offer a platform. All are teams that your DD can make however playing time and team role will certainly vary. |
Just as I thought. |
| Thank you; we have played Herndon twice and lost pretty badly twice. Interesting to know just how good they are compared to the rest of the league and they’ve been feeding players into McLean. We’re gonna check BRYC, Arlington, McLean. McLean sounds the best but we should’ve went there a year or two ago; I don’t know just how much game time DD would get breaking into team at U17. |
| Talent is very diluted, but my only concern now is DD being on a platform to showcase. We’re okay losing games (we lose games now. I want her to have the opportunity to properly be evaluated and our club doesn’t get that kind of exposure. Also, I don’t see much of a plan for the girls. It looks like the boys get preferred treatment, girls teams just for friends circles and that’s it |
+1 Yeah, I won’t go as far to say that our club has lied to us but they definitely were gaslighting us. |
Lol Loudoun and Arlington are not using their CCL teams as feeders. The thing is the ECNL and GA teams will only give you are hard look if you are coming from an ECNL or GA team. It’s just the way things are. Once they select the girls at u13 that’s it for the most part. |
One or two come in every year, but these players are true talent. Most of McLean older ECNL teams didn’t start in McLean; they attract the talent because ECNL. Most Arlington GA is Arlington, with some outside players. BRYC’s problem is they don’t recruit players very well. If they did, they could do some damage |
I don’t know about Arlington but Loudoun sells their garbage red (CCL1) and black (CCL2) teams as the feeders to ECNL. You look at their ECNL results, then their CCL results and you’ll see that at any league Loudoun is typically the used and abused side of the contest. In some cases extremely embarrassingly. Imagine going a whole season with 0 wins and 1 goal scored.
But parents are too lobotomized and hijacked by their patch and suffer from cognitive dissonance when they’re confronted with the harsh truth. They’re scared to leave what’s revered as cool and many do not want to step out of the comfort zones. Those who do wish they had done so earlier. |

^— we don’t have that worry
For CCL we could go to SYC, Alexandria, Arlington, LMVSC For ECNL we could go to BRYC, VDA, McLean For GA we could go to Arlington Currently in CCL but we’re registering DD to ECNL and CCL clubs |
The cognitive dissonance is when colleges start to look at your DD they aren't looking at your team record. Each kid interested in playing in college will find their level then. For those bench players on a highly successful team they will have learned that playing 15 minutes a game didn't get them into a better soccer program than the starter on that bad team they used to beat all the time got into. While it must be frustrating for kids to go winless and score a single goal how frustrating must it be when a player watched their team win all those years and still ended up at the same college level as the player on the bad team? |
We’ll agree that having been around since 1978 they have had the opportunity to establish a brand and create ties with colleges. However, I see not much merit in sending a few kids to the same colleges every year with a bloated player pool with hundreds upon hundreds of options. Other clubs have much less and produce much more. I would expect more delivery from a staff that has A and B licenses working with their ECNL and CCL team a. |
