You do realize that many public school teachers REFUSE to return in person?

You do realize that a large chunk of DCPS parents CHOSE online and:or refused an in person spot?

Let’s get the vaccines to the folks who work in environments where in person learning is desired.

Lol private school teachers don’t want to be in person and get sick. Only you parents want us there. . My 90 year old mother lives with me I have been asked in order to pay my bills to go teach in person and expose my loved ones.

Speak for yourself. I much prefer working in person and feel that the precautions I am taking are adequate; I have been teaching for months now and no one has gotten ill at my school.

But you are posting on DCUM in the middle of the day?

They should have all teachers and child care workers eligible for the vaccine, regardless of public or private. It will take awhile for them all to receive their shot since the supply is limited. Instead of public or private, I would prioritize by age, health condition, zip code of home and other demographic areas that may put them at risk.

Many schools are closed today for the inauguration.

Well, more accurately, it’s - we are people, our kids and their teachers are people, and our teachers should go at the same time as (not before or after) other teachers.

Many DC schools are off today.

It's because you've been willing to educate children without a vaccine that you are not getting one.

Public school teachers are a-holes who have stolen a childhood from kids and are holding them hostage until they get a vaccine. What are parents supposed to do?

And this is exactly why we are moving to private in 2021. I wish we had the foresight to move this year but I couldn't imagine affording it -- now I just couldn't imagine putting my kids back with those teachers who clearly do not care about kids at all. And i don't care if public schools go back in 2021 -- it is too little, too late. They are horrible people.

I'm sorry this is happening.

This. We can be forced back into unsafe environments because we have no union to protect us, so they know they don’t need to vax us. We will still keep showing up because if we don’t, our kids don’t eat.

Confirmed. We were forced don't think we had a choice.

You were not forced. Private schools are at-will employers. You are not required to work there.

I wish my DCs could have teachers like this PP. Unfortunately the ones like those posting here that are protesting going in to work tomorrow are ruining the private education experience for all students, hybrid or DL.

Aren’t all teachers able to register on the 25th on the vaccinate DC website? Isn’t like all healthcare personnel that they can just sign up on the website and choose their location of choice?

No, it’s only invited teachers—DCPS/charter teachers who will be returning in person on Feb 1st. Teachers will still be prioritized above the general population, but not for this specific sign up.

Root of problem is that DC does not have enough vaccinations from the federal government. We need to lobby for more and enlist the help of people who actually have representation on the federal level.

I am likely going to be a DCPS teacher onJanuary 28th (have an offer, but did not make a final decision yet). Probably won’t be in person though...

Sorry, but why are you sarcastic? Because you don’t believe me or because I should not get the vaccine since I won’t be teaching in person?
