DP. Correct, and it's absurd that one would believe that the reasoning for this proposal was to get a Republican in the council. Again, this was a message that the County Council wanted to spread and they did so successfully. This was about ensuring that the people who have been IGNORED (and yes that's upcounty and midcounty- hello Gaithersburg, Germantown, Clarksburg- which are majority-minority and democratic areas) can finally have a seat at the table and have their voices heard. Have you all heard of Southlake Elementary school and Neelsville Middle School? By not voting for D, you have aligned yourself with the corrupt politicians of MOntgomery County who seek to only serve the places where they live. Disgusting.

Please explain the role of the county council in directing MCPS capital funding to individual school projects.

The CC is fully aware on how their MCPS funding directly impacts the ability of MCPS to fund high needs schools. A county council member who lives in midcounty or upcounty would educate and advocate for the needs of their constituents. We can't just have Craig Rice. And this actually goes beyond schools.

You must not visit/live there. It's not the 80's hon. It's liberals, Asians, POC, everybody... they can easily commute to the pharma/biotech corridor/Baltimore and get affordable housing. DC is dead, nobody wants to work there.

Nobody! Not even the 685,000 people who live there! Wait, what?

I'm sorry that you are unable to understand. Please explain to me how wanting better representation for 70% of MoCo residents is a partisan issue.

As you know, this argument failed to persuade a majority of voters.

And that's because these voters blindly follow what the elite political machine of the county tells them to do. Such suckers.

+1 It is so true. MoCo will continue to spiral down with all the self righteousness of the political machine

That's what people say when the voters didn't support them.

Nothing says "downtrodden outsider" quite like lots of campaign contributions from Bethesda and Potomac, to say nothing of $50,000 from a Bethesda developer and $40,000 from a Rockville developer.

The Asian-Americans drank the Kool aid that Blacks and Hispanics want to get rid of the gifted programs and so voted for Republicans. Guess they did not understand the "Divide And Conquer" philosophy of the White man from their own colonial past.

Thankfully, with Trump putting restrictions on student and h4 visas most super educated Asian American IT workers were already against the Republicans.

Now I just want all the racist old aunties and uncles to die off...because racists do not change their minds...they just get dementia, stroke and heart attack.

As for the UpCounty.... Poolesville will continue to have a population of rural poor White who resent that things are not great for them and they also resent all the "others" who come for the school and are gentrifying it. It is a catch-22 situation but a microcosm of why Trump appealed to his supporters. It is not because they are racists. It is because they are poor and others are not.

A Trumper leads a life of selfpity, low self esteem and self hatred. They are fully aware that they are White and were given a lot of privileges. Their parents and grandparents did not have to go to college because post WW2 economy allowed them to have a decent life without education.

Republicans who do not want to pay taxes so that social services are funded for the poorest have told them that their problems are due to immigrants, gays, proLife people etc. They believe this because they are scared and think of everyone who is not White as "other".

Trumpers need to realize that their salvation will come when rich pay taxes and all the federal agencies uphold the rights and interests of Americans.

80% of MoCo voted for Biden and that is great. I am concerned that the 20% who did not have genuine grievances of being poor and having no place in the America of the rich.

We need to fix that for this country to remain united and progressive.

PP, let's take a look at the overlap between who is poor in Montgomery County and who voted for Trump in Montgomery County.
