I don’t think this is true. They surveyed teachers but it was as much a surprise to teachers as to parents that they wouldn’t reopen. Without a lot of collaboration and negotiation they would not know what exactly teachers wanted, or if there might be any way to accommodate. I think honestly getting DL up to par was so hard it took all the time energy and brainpower of most admin, and teachers too, perhaps they didn’t get much further with the planning. |
I was born in DC and raised in DC. But how white of you to think that. If you live in inner city DC it takes 30 min to get to Bethesda at 8:30 am. If you live in Friendship Heights you walk across the street. My kids grandparents live in Potomac now. I would love to drop them off there but the amount of time it would take me to get them there and then back to my home office means 2 hours in the car a day. But hey you believe what you want to believe. This is a LAMB parent driving how many hours so his kids can have a babysitter who doesn't speak spanish? Seriously - ask 3 people and you can find an abuella to watch your kids. |
And yes they are garbage people. If you think teachers are not going back because of feelings; if you think people need to suck it up so you can be away from your crotch goblin then you are a garbage person thinking someone else needs to make the sacrifice you are incapable of making. Garbage people scream for their needs because they have that priviledge and they dont see it because so much garbage in the way. |
These WTU trolls are desperate I live in NE and I'm a 10 minute block from MD. Gasp...I even do my grocery shopping in another state. Also, it's safe enough for an "abuella" to watch kids, but not a 20-something year old teacher. Got it. Talk about privilege. |
|
The lamb dad said he wanted his kid learning Spanish. How do you think I learned Spanish from a white woman at a charter or from my grandmother?
Speaking two languages is only educational superior if you are white. When I do it then it’s why aren’t you the maid. |

Fun that people think there are only 20 something year old teachers - the majority of teachers are older. And those older people who are at risk should watch your kids learning on a computer as a solution to YOUR problem.
And the drama of LAMB parents - whine whine whine. If only they whined like this when a teacher was raping a kid in the school. I want a charter, unions suck, but I'm a liberal look they let in black and brown kids. I mean I won't talk to those kids moms but see my kid is exposed to stuff I didn't get in the midwest. I can't afford a private and I'm a liberal so charter charter charter. Well no gov control of any kind and now this is what you get. DCPS is an epic mess too but the entitlement that you couldn't use your local school so you went to a charter and somehow things would be different. BTW charters are unionizing. Look at mundo verde. |

yeah is this a way to devert attention from the lawsuit from the child rapes at lamb
i didn't forget because i won't let my kid near the school |
Seriously, are you experiencing a mental health crisis? You are nonsensical and seem to be on this page 24 hours a day spewing the same hate. |

You know how many people in Washington DC died in October from coronavirus? 14.
That's down from almost 300 dying per month back in the spring. At this rate, pretty soon there's going to be more people in the District dying in car accidents than from coronavirus. |
People like to say that, but less than 20% of teachers are 55 and over, nationally. DC and Florida don't publish their numbers, but it's pretty steady across the US, and there's no reason to think DC would be particularly different. So, yeah, I'm fine with 20% of the teacher workforce staying at home to teach the kids who will continue in distance learning. Now you accusing people of not caring about rape is disgusting. Are you a parent? I am assuming you know people in charter schools and maybe in LAMB, because that sounds like a lot of personal and very specific anger. |
Or homicides. |
Why is it fine for someone's untrained grandmother to do this but not a teacher? Btw, it's abuela. Maybe you need a little bit of help with Spanish yourself. |
Washington D.C.: Where you're more likely to be murdered than die from coronavirus, and 100,000 children are banned from going to school. |

I will agree there's a bit of hysteria factor going on around Covid perhaps, meaning that teachers are spooked. Particularly teachers with demographics that might cause them to be more likely to experience the disease or die from it.
There's also hysteria around most everything to do with this issue. Recommend we go back to science and stop shouting at each other over the internet. If some are concerned, maybe they don't know the latest science around both reopening schools and DC's rates? Some basics can be shared in a courteous way and what about having a teacher zoom call with a few public health experts to go over details? I know if my workplace wanted me back in person, I would expect to be given the latest science from an expert, and be able to ask questions. I'd want to verify the processes in place to prevent exposure. I might hope the employer would do most of this legwork for me, even, and summarize all findings. Why survey teachers whether they want to come back, without this due diligence? |
