It's their fault that Diana didn't know what to do and it's also their fault that Thatcher doesn't know what clothing to bring. How would she know they were going out traipsing around in the mud?

la la la la la - its fiction darling - la la la la la

How naieve are you? Diana and Margaret were both notorious for how much they hated the royal family. You think there weren’t good reasons for that?

Really. You need to learn to spell the big words before you use them. NAIVE. The show, for better or worse, is a FICTION its not a documentary or a docudrama.

You are like those weirdos who watch soaps all day and believe they are happening.

OMG. You're going to get on someone else's spelling when you spelled "it's" wrong? Laughable.

erm, that is a word that has been *punctuated* incorrectly, not spelled incorrectly (or wrongly but never "wrong") we could go on like this or you could just crawl back under your rock...

Uhm, you missed a comma

Highly recommend the You're Wrong About podcast Princess Diana episodes. Its a deep dive into Diana's life using Morton's and Brown's books

This show has brought back a lot of memories.

I really hate Charles and Camilla still.

Your hatred should be directed at Lillibet, Philip, and Dickie Mountbatten. They engineered that ill fated marriage. Charles and Camilla should have married from the first. They are now very happily married.

Yeah Charles is an innocent puppy who didn't realize that having an affair would hurt his young wife. Give me a break, we all have agency in this world and the ability to know right from wrong.

Where was Diana’s own family through all of this? Her sister? Parents or brother or an aunt or something? The show makes it seem like she was cut off from her own family, but was that really how it was?

I don’t think that is true. She once said her sister Sarah was the only person she really trusted. And I think Jane was around a lot since her husband worked for the queen.

The royal family always took precedence, clearly. I think William has kept the Middletons on more equal footing. They spend holidays together, etc. Seems more normal.

Why is Charles portrayed as though he has special needs/is differently abled? He’s constantly slouching, avoiding eye contact, and sniveling. Bizarre caricature.

We were briefed extensively before she came and it was made very clear to us that we can greet her any way we liked, no curtseys necessary. She asked some great questions and wore a fabulous pink coat and I have to say, it was so cool!

So cool!

How fortunate, and that she was lovely. I've met Fergie at a dinner party years ago, and she was decidedly not lovely. She's more boorish and self-centered in person. Her insecurity really jumped out.

I think they’re trying to portray him as the unloved puppy that he (at least thought that he) was, which explains some of the resulting ego issues and desire to be with Camilla, who expressed love for him in the “right” way. I think the caricature is over the top, but I get what they’re going for. I can’t watch Gillian Anderson’s portrayal of Thatcher. Painful.

Her mum abandoned her as a child and she was raised by her father and step mother. Totally dysfunctional aristos. You sort of have to be British to understand properly.

I think Diana couldn’t really trust her sister either because the sister’s husband worked for Queen Elizabeth.

Charles is a terrible person. I’ve always believed that he was selfish and a total jerk.

With the exception of the queen and Philip, I find all the Season 4 portrayals cartoonish to the point of absurdity.

I still don't understand the purpose of the monarchy. It doesn't seem like they really understand it either besides "tradition" and "history."

Why can't the PM do the ceremonial stuff in addition to the politics? That's what the POTUS does.

We're not comfortable watching shows with a lot of sex, so how much of that is there in The Crown?

I have zero recollection of there being any, so it must have been fast and very forgettable.

I have a vague sense that it was once implied that Elizabeth gave Philip a BJ (NOT shown) and that Tony Snowdon had a three-way. I can't think of anything else.

Np. Princess Anne and Camilla's husband and Margaret and her first husband but it was long. Certainly not a good reason yo skip a whole show!
