This is eerily like former SD Governor Bill Janklow. He was in Congress. He had a bad driving record too. He ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed and hit a motorcylist and killed him. He resigned from Congress after being convicted of manslaughter and received 100 days in jail He served only 30. In the civil trial he claimed he was performing official government business so the suit was dismissed. All this happened in 2003/4. I note he was accused of rape when he was 17 and was allowed to join the military and later go to law school. Yes, he was a Republican of course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Janklow |
Now it comes out that the AG was the one who led the sheriff to the dead body the day after...there’s a slim possibility that he’s telling the truth that he wasn’t drunk after a dinner with his GOP cronies and that this was all a horrible accident but it doesn’t sound very innocent.

This article has additional photos. They show the AG at the fundraiser, which was very lightly attended. They also interviewed witnesses who were at the fundraiser who report that none saw the AG drinking, and said he did not seem impaired at the event or before leaving.
There are also photos of the crash area. I can see that it might be hard to find the body with a cell phone camera especially if it was thrown a distance from a high speed crash. There is nothing for the light to bounce off of and would just get sucked into the darkness. However, I find it hard to believe that a sheriff with a normal police flashlight and a vehicle with floodlights would not find the body or at a minimum the white pickup truck in the field. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8737501/PICTURED-GOP-dinner-South-Dakota-AG-attended-struck-killed-man-car.html |

Officials in South Dakota on Tuesday released the 911 call and toxicology reports in an investigation into a fatal car wreck involving the state's attorney general. Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg (R) killed a pedestrian last month in an automobile accident, according to a previous report. A preliminary autopsy report showed the victim, 55-year-old Joseph Boever, suffered injuries "both internally and externally," South Dakota Department of Public Safety Cabinet Secretary Craig Price said in a press conference Tuesday, CNN reported. Ravnsborg's chief of staff, Timothy Bormann, in a statement issued last month called the crash "a tragic accident." One day after the incident, Ravnsborg gave officials a blood sample in which his blood alcohol content was 0%. When asked why a blood sample was not administered the night of the accident, Price said, "I'm not going to speculate on the work of others ... I know that once our office became involved, which was the next day ... we worked efficiently to go ahead and get that information." |
So Ravnsborg’s plan worked precisely as he hoped. Stay home until you’ve cleared the alcohol. |
I am not going to speculate on any of this - everyone here has said enough. But I have a question (not being from this country) - do we have to report when we hit a deer? To the police I mean... I thought we just had to report to the insurance as we seek to fix the car. Am I wrong? |
You are not wrong, hence the speculation. |
I think it's entirely possible he was speeding down a dark, empty road that had no streetlights, possibly reading or texting or talking on his phone, hit something, but didn't know what. If he was travelling at high speed, and not looking at the road (maybe he looked down to tune the radio), he might not have seen what he hit.
Reports said he called 911, but it's not clear why the sheriff came himself. Is it such a sparsely populated area that the sherriff is the only local police officer? And why did the sheriff come in his personal car, not the squad car? Is he a personal friend? And why did the sheriff give the AG his personal car to drive home? Why didnthe sherrif wait for the tow truck? Is the AG the sheriff's boss? Does he have authority over the sherriff? And, if the sheriff was in his personal car, it makes sense that he might not have had a flashlight with him. But, the next day, why did the AG return to the scene? He needed to tetuen the sherrif's personal car, yes, but why did the AG drive (with his friend in another car?) to the scene? And how is it that the AG discovered the body? Then, after discovering the nody, why did he mot call 911? Why did he drive to the sheriff's house to report the body? And why, o, why did the sheriff tell the AG to leave, and say he would handle the investigation?? Why did he mot wait for state triopers and accident incestigators to arrive? Clearly, it seems to me, the AG got special treatment. Whether he knew he hit a person, I don't know, but I'm pretty sure he knew he was in deep doo doo as soon as he saw the man's body. That's where the coverup hegan, IMHO. |

Sorry for all the typos!! |
Exactly, plus he has time-stamped recorded proof (the 911 call) that he "did the right thing" and called in with his bogus "Well, gee whiz, I think I hit somethin' out there... like maybe a deer... " MAGA "morals" in action. And he'll get away with it. |
So has he resigned yet or is that only for regular people accused of manslaughter? |
Exactly! Doesn't matter why, the fact is he took a life! But baaaaaaabbbbbieeess |
This was not a regular 911 call. He was calling for the sheriff's help. His car wasn't drivable. He called 911 and the sheriff himself drove out and then let the AG use his personal car to drive himself home. |
Oh, OK, fair enough. Nothing suspicious at all. MAGA morals in action. #death #lies #deceit |
Well, it looks like he was distracted driving and ran off the road onto the shoulder, where he hit the victim.
