Man here, this is a fascinating thread. Men have a hundred crushes a week, almost all of them are instant and based on first sight physical attraction to women most would see as conventionally attractive. It's like the old stat about men thinking about sex every seven second. Not exactly true but for example on the way into the office I will notice and have a brief sexual thought about a dozen women who pass by me.

But I can't really recall having a Don Knotts type enduring sexual crush on a conventionally unattractive woman. So I do think men and women are very different

I am attracted to really strong alpha personalities. It is rarer for women to show that side of themselves but when I meet one I am often attracted to them. I’m a woman and straight.

I think this is not that uncommon. I am a pretty alpha female (though I have met some who are more alpha, for sure!) but I have met a few where I just...gravitate towards them. I am straight (them too, generally), so it isn't necessarily sexual but it is almost intoxicating how I am attracted to their presence. It almost feels sexual there are those butterfly feelings just being around someone like that you have great chemistry with. Almost like we wish we were gay, it was meant to be.
