Are you saying one of the minors involved in racist graffiti committed suicide? I’m confused with all the cross talk. |
That name cannot be invoked in association with anything negative on DCUM. You will rouse the Beast. |
No, it's two different topics. The death notice of one of the 3 MCPS students who committed suicide in the last 2 weeks was in the Washington Post yesterday. He was 17. |
Correct. Not sure why the teacher didn't want to name Pyle. |
Maybe a private. |
| I would vote in favor of caning, a la Singapore. Anyone else? |

At this point I assume some kids are trolling the community. There have been so many meetings, so many community awareness activities, so much hand-wringing from parents and students. Whoever is pranking should be ashamed of themselves, but I do believe they're purposefully stirring up emotions. |
Head in the sand parent here. |
This is exactly the type of prank I would have pulled back when I was in high school, to get attention and stir up trouble. I've evolved since then, thankfully. |
I mean, if by "stirring up emotions" you mean "terrorizing kids of color and making them feel unwelcome in majority white spaces," then yes. |
You would have spraypainted nooses and the n-word? Have you evolved as much as you think? Or are you actively trying to keep black and brown kids out of your white and asian schools? That's the grownup version of racist graffiti. |
I hate it when people minimize acts like this by calling them pranks. They're deeply deeply hurtful acts. |
I don't think you have evolved at all. Otherwise you wouldn't have called it a prank. If you have children, parents like you are the reason racism is still alive and kicking. Does your imagination (hopefully not gone beyond imagining), of what you would have done while you were in high school back then, also includes you in the hood and a torch in one hand? You are truly sickening. |
What is the point calling a crime a "prank"? |
