At this point I assume some kids are trolling the community.

There have been so many meetings, so many community awareness activities, so much hand-wringing from parents and students.

Whoever is pranking should be ashamed of themselves, but I do believe they're purposefully stirring up emotions.

This is exactly the type of prank I would have pulled back when I was in high school, to get attention and stir up trouble. I've evolved since then, thankfully.

People like you are actually worse than those that draw nooses and the n word. At least they will admit they are wrong and what they did was bad.

But people like you just sink back into the racist system and pat yourself on the back because you.. evolved/work hard/don't hurt anyone/don't commit crimes against humanity... at least not ones people can see in orange on a wall.

SMFH! You don't even see what a mess you are.

Interesting that case was listed in the database yesterday when news of arrest first broke - now it is gone.

Also, the address that was listed in the database is not an actual house.

Family is clearly taking measures to hide their identity.

Guess they don't want protesters in front of their house like happened to the angry biker guy.

The records of the juveniles would not be there anwayy. You mean the one 18 year old? Also sometimes they report things as block number (like 7300 block) not actual address.

You would have spraypainted nooses and the n-word? Have you evolved as much as you think? Or are you actively trying to keep black and brown kids out of your white and asian schools? That's the grownup version of racist graffiti.

No, we weren't racists. We'd have spraypainted anything to get attention. Actually, we did spraypaint the high school one night. It was "Football Team Rulez" or something like that, to frame the football players. It did get attention including a stern announcement from the principal the next day, and the football players got a reaming from the coach that day at practice, so I guess our eleaborate scheme worked.

If I were 17 years old today? Probably we'd spraypaint something snarky like "Elrich, drop the tax on protest signs" or "Corona doesn't spread during protests, keep shunning social distancing and masks" or "SJW girls are easy" but not nooses and n-words.

Never said juveniles record was there last night. The 18 yo record was there last night. The police press release said it was 8700 block of Grant. The actual address in the database was a specific address (870x Grant) that does not exist in county records or google maps. Other address close to that one are Suburban hospital.

“He thought it would be fun to have something make the news” in the light of current events, the police said in a statement...

Police said the youth said he felt regret soon after the vandalism was committed. The 18-year old also described feeling regret, and police said the teenagers said they wanted to turn themselves in. In going to the police station, both were accompanied by parents, police said.

Ugh, what an insensitive jerk. This is what happens when you send white kids to schools that are not diverse and don't actively talk to them about racism.

More likely, one of the parents figured out it was their kid, parent is a lawyer, and tried to orchestrate this to their advantage.

It's still in the court search. But the address is still wrong in the court search and doesn't exist. I find that very odd - how is he supposed to receive information from court if the address is incorrect?

IF there's an attorney on file, it would go to them anyway.

Dear Parents and Students-

The purpose of this letter is to inform you about another serious incident of racism and hate graffiti that occurred Friday night on the Walt Whitman High School campus. It came to my attention this morning that racist graffiti using the n-word and a drawing of a noose was spray painted on our campus. This vile graffiti is very similar to what was spray painted on our campus in late February of this school year. Once it was brought to our attention, we immediately covered up the graffiti and contacted the police. I met with officers from the Montgomery County Police Department this morning and we will continue to investigate this incident. I want to emphasize as strongly as possible that this racist and destructive behavior will not be tolerated in the Walt Whitman High School community. If it is discovered that our students were involved, they will receive serious consequences and may face additional charges from Montgomery County Police.

I feel both outrage and deep grief that acts of racism and hate continue to occur at Walt Whitman. Just this past week, our students hosted two student-led forums titled “Racism Ends With Us.” In addition, our Race, Equity, and Wellness coalition held forums for our staff this week to process recent incidents of racism in the nation as we continue to plan how to combat hate in our own school community. This work builds on our efforts over the last two years to eliminate hate in all forms, including our partnership with the Anti-Defamation League and our implementation of OneWhitman. While I’m deeply discouraged by what occurred today, it will not deter us from our collective mission to end racism and build a safe and inclusive school community where ALL students can thrive.

We will remain steadfast until every student feels like Whitman is their school and is a safe and welcoming place to learn and grow.

I wonder if these three also did the earlier graffiti?

The one named admitted to it.
