Uh, camps and schools don't run simultaneously. That's the whole issue. If schools announced they were closed in the fall, which would never happen now, of course camps wouldn't open (except maybe select ones that are all outside or whatever). It's all the unknown of what summer will bring.

Many camps use public school facilities during the summer. The schools might not want to take on the liability of disinfecting, cleaning etc. for the summer just for the camps.

Anecdotal, but I heard from the person who runs a basketball league that uses FCPS school gyms and she said Fairfax County told them gyms would be available for use after June 16.

Half the price? That seems ridiculously high.

Then don’t sign up.

WES just cancelled entire summer. Full refund. They will offer virtual camp you can sign up for later.

Yeah, no thanks. I’ll take my refund.

Anyone heard about Loudoun County or Fairfax County parks and rec camps? Loudoun County was supposed to tell parents by today.

But they haven’t said yet that they are definitely cancelling right?

Big train canceled.

ESF not yet cancelled but only offering credits if they do. Or possibly "virtual camp" which is beyond useless. Really upset to see almost every other camp is refunding.

Where did you see they're only offering credits?

I suspect they could run the sports camps.

It’s all over their website - “ease of mind” policy - and I got an email to that effect too.

I guess I don’t really mind because the kids are young so I’m sure we’ll use the credit eventually, but a refund would be better.

Loudoun County PRCS Director just postponed registration. They will not open up summer camps until NOVA is in Phase 2. Who knows when that'll be. In his message, he speculated two to four weeks from the start of Phase 1.

Burgundy camps are canceled. Full refunds will be given.

The Kettler Center hasn't announced for its Learn to Skate camps, but it's website already says "no refund offered." That strikes me as ridiculous. There is no such thing as an online learn to ice skate camp for a 4 and 6 yo. They need to offer refunds.

Once my state said camps could run starting 6/29, I got several cancellations. Every camp has given a full refund. My daughter was enrolled in a spring class, did one class and then they cancelled. No refund, but a credit for a future class.

correct, but you have to make a decision about what you want to do by may 31- and right now the choices are cancel with refund, or agree to online camp for 50% tuition with possibility of some on campus.

Anyone know what’s happening with Fairfax County?
