Big train canceled.

ESF not yet cancelled but only offering credits if they do. Or possibly "virtual camp" which is beyond useless. Really upset to see almost every other camp is refunding.

Where did you see they're only offering credits?

I suspect they could run the sports camps.

There is no way day camps will open if schools haven't or won't open. It's even worse than school, with kids from all over coming in day in and day out, and then changing week to week,

Barrie did say that would issue full refunds (or allow you to take a credit and lock in next summer at this year’s rates) if they do close.

I don’t know how Dynamite could possibly follow even minimal social distancing. Shared equipment, long hours in an enclosed space without much ventilation, no room to space kids out while waiting their turn. Those camps are pretty crowded, and there’s no way to isolate smaller groups throughout the day.

ZERO chance.

Uh, camps and schools don't run simultaneously. That's the whole issue. If schools announced they were closed in the fall, which would never happen now, of course camps wouldn't open (except maybe select ones that are all outside or whatever). It's all the unknown of what summer will bring.

Many camps use public school facilities during the summer. The schools might not want to take on the liability of disinfecting, cleaning etc. for the summer just for the camps.

Has anyone heard from Congo?

If public or private schools are closed due to covid, snow etc. they will not allowed anyone to operate even if they’re just renters. That’s why lots of camps using such facilities closed down quickly because they have no other options.

Their website says they expect to make an announcement regarding summer schedule by May 15. I don’t know if the delayed opening of Northern Virginia will push this back though. That announcement has been on their website for a few weeks.

Congo was having a meeting with staff tonight. I think we’ll hear tomorrow.

Sidwell summer is canceling with a full refund. Just got the email. They are offering some online options. I was just looking over the invoice and remembering the cool programs my guys were signed up for this summer. I am sad for them that they won’t be able to go.

The BSA for National Capital Area Council cancelled all Scouts BSA and Cub Scout camping and day camp activities for the summer. Full refunds are being provided.

Sandy Spring just posted their online options, at half the cost of regular camp (with refunds for those who don't want/need virtual camp).

Half the price? That seems ridiculously high.
