We got the email today too. Yuck. |
Many kids want to take it twice, and many, many kids were planning to take their first test in April. Just because your kid got one in doesn't mean they should be given any sort of priority. |
Having a decent score is definitely a good thing. But test optional schools have said that kids who don't submit a scores won't be considered unfavorably and it won't hurt their chances of admission. I hope this is true. |
Test optional means they will scrutinize other parts of application even more. If you’re a 2021er, and you needed that test score to “boost” your overall application? You’re at a disadvantage because there are a number of kids who already tested prior to March. Odds are, some got a decent score. |
| Pincing myself. DD is Class of 2021. She NEEDS the ACT score to offset middling grades. Took the September 2019 test and did pretty well! Working with private tutor, her practice scores are soaring past 30. Her school (a private) is still scheduled to hold the June exam. Yay! |
I know and I'm sad for my student who tests really well but may never get to take the SAT/ACT at all. |
Which school? Was the site open to everyone? |
| This is so cruel to the kids. Mine studied for months and was so ready in April, scoring 34 on practice tests. Spent the last three weeks getting up to speed again--now cancelled again two days before the test. Who's to say the same thing won't happen again in July or September. He, too, could really use the strong score to balance mixed grades. Ugh. |
| I am so sorry (this is 18:22 poster). My DD also got ready for April and we are incredibly fortunate that her small private will still administer the June test. Your child should not be told two days out that the test is off. Our teens are suffering so much already with the virus closures. Studying twice then facing so late a cancellation is absurd. |
It's not, a school cant be more than 24% test-optional or they'll face a significant setback in the rankings. |
| Just adding my sympathy for all those 2021'ers who are facing cancellations, this is so stressful and sad. |
I hope the rankings system is amended for this year. |
| Was anyone able to take this test yesterday in DMV? |
| Bump |
| Yes. Private school, which I will not name, taking care of it’s own. Although my child was a beneficiary, I am well aware (the events of the past months have opened my eyes) that this is an example of wealthy (mostly white) privilege. |
