This is my problem with the clubs. They are acting as if everything is normal and play will continue with some minor delay, and they are loathe to put anything out to parents with this option. It really is sad. I know the people who run our club and it is all about ensuring its survival somehow, and not what is best for players and families who need the money and want to wait to pay once youth soccer practices and games really begins maybe 18 months from now they are saying. 6-12 months would be great, but basically depends on the vaccine development. |
Jesus! Then don’t play..... for us that want to move forward we will go for those who don’t stay inside. I will not keep on stopping my life for the fear that someone is going to get this virus. Our economy as a whole will not survive. These coaches have families as well, people can’t feed their families. You talk about people dying from this virus if this keeps on going on can you understand the magnitude of starvation on the horizon? The numbers of death to the population at hand is a fraction of the number who will commit suicide and starve if the economy keeps on going down I know that’s not something that a lot of us privileged people want to talk about or can see but try to look at the whole entity instead of just looking at the small little percentage of people that could be affected by that is if you don’t get back to our lives. Waiting for a vaccine is not a privilege that the economy can withstand. |
It’s not going to be up to you. The govt will let you know when they deem it safe for you and everyone else to use their facilities. |
Isn’t that interesting... |
I know why you are not that worried. You are planning to inject yourself, your kid and family disinfectant 😂 As POTUS suggests. |
Lol no I would not do anything he suggest! |
The economy is not reliant on youth soccer. Sorry mate. |
Your correct. But all these clubs and soccer coaches are. |
So the objective has shifted from flattening the curve (recognizing that a virus does not disappear simply because we go inside for two or three months) to ending all nonessential activity until . . . . . . ? I don't think any individual category of activity in the economy is essential, and if that were the standard for keeping something open, we'd be shut down for months even though the curve had flattened and even though shutting down all nonessential activity does not eliminate the virus. I think the point above is a broader one about the absence of any scientific rationale or identifiable objective from those who think we need to be "safe" before resuming nonessential activity. That is well beyond flattening the curve to manage the rate of infection. And I don't think that's where most states will land. Of course, nobody should be compelled to work or play or sending their children outside their home either. That can be up to individuals. But if the curve has flattened (and the r stays below 1) all sorts of nonessential activity will be legally permissible. |
| I think what I'm reading is at least someone feels that....once the govt allows soccer to reopen (or any non essential businesses), it should be everyone's "duty" to get back out there and get the economy going back to as normal as possible so that people's lively hood can get back to normal as soon as possible. If we don't, businesses will fold, people will struggle, etc even more if we don't...even though that it's true that some of the kids will get infected and bring it home and spread it. When that happens, the hospitals should be ready. However, some people will die (most likely not the kids though) but we need to come to terms that there will be deaths for the greater good where the greater good is getting the economy back on its feet. I think this is what that TX gov was saying when he said something like...I'd rather be dead than to let the economy crumble. There will be alot of soul searching in this regard, but I just don't see youth soccer as being the choice where parents are willing to take the risk. That's why I agree that youth soccer will not be the same for a long time and it won't make sense to start up in June. I don't think there will be ENOUGH interest. Clubs will have skeleton crews as coaching staff and teams. |
So you are a coach then. I get it now. |
+1 |
If clubs and soccer coaches are solely financially dependent on youth soccer, then shame on them. Pick up a trade, utilize your COLLEGE EDUCATION, or find another job. Find an essential job, then you won't be on here trying to convince these parents that it's okay to put their kids back on the field so you can make a dollar. |
I agree with everything said in this post. My question is will these clubs try to use these zoom meetings and soccer apps as a means of fulfilling their coaching obligation? In other words are they going to say "no credit or refund" because we were interacting with the team during the pandemic. |
What an idiot |
