Next season tryouts?

Can you name the club so we know where to avoid? I suspect not BRYC as they already do this with a composite team.

Thinks in fall there will only be local games and scrimmages. No overnight travel. IMO too bad Arlington, FCV and MU aren’t in ECNL. It’s going to be boring only playing 4 teams. Also in the winter they will bump down the weaker players. So beware accepting an offer for my DD team. I’m sure we can all speculate which club we are with. I’m not kidding. This was an actual conversation with an ECNL coach

This is McLean. They are taking large rosters like in the past. If they can hook 30 players with promise of top team, and collect that money, then club will stay afloat. As Louise says, we are all in this together. Your families money is our clubs money. They think parents will just keep paying ……

And they will because they have the power.

I think it won’t just be McLean that does this-BRYC already does this and likely Loudoun and VDA will do the same. ECNL can roster up to 30 per team even though only 18 can play. So DA players can accept a spot and hope they will be in top 11 to start or 18 to play or stay with GAL and actually play..

All of this is adding up to same old, same old in this area. Less reason for anyone to move, at least this year.

You like it or not things won’t be normal for youth sports until 2021. Stick with and support your current club and team.

McLean. Our team manager warned us already.

Said they are “helping the local kids who no longer have a league”. This is crap

Wow. No one is helping the 19 girls who don’t start. Especially at 03/04 ages. GAL is actually looking better and better and I’m a serious GAL skeptic.

I will point out that BRYC is forced to take large rosters. They have ECNL and no other league. Their younger teams either do scrimmages or play NCSL. Once they hit U13 ECNL is the only option. McLean does not have to do this. They have multiple teams in each age group and the ones not doing ECNL do either CCL or NCSL. If McLean rosters 30 girls on their ECNL team as has an entire green team playing CCL if will be a disaster. Top 10 will play every game while the other rotate sitting the bench or playing minimal minutes. If you are leaving your ex-DA team I would have a very frank conversation with the new coach and ask how many players he plans to take. At U13-14 I think 18 should be the max. Even with 18 there will be 4-5 girls playing less. At U15-18 I suggest 24 girls as a max.

At what McLean age group was this said? And that’s not honest anyhow-ex-DA girls will have a league. They may just not deem it worthy enough...
Anonymous
22-24 girls should be the max at U15 and above. McLean 2005 ECNL team this year already has 23 rostered. If they keep everyone plus add from DA that’s only room for 7 more...

Have offers been extended already to both existing players on McLean ECNL and ex-DA players or are they waiting until Friday (May 1)?

GAL better hurry up and announce if they want to retain players!

Lots of factually incorrect rumors here. If you want to know expected roster sizes, contact the ECNL club directly. Hearing info from the horse's mouth is the most reliable way to go about making a decision.

I bet Richmond promised any club who gets to 30 via outside players gets two teams per age group in ECNL.

VDA will not do this.
