^^^This would actually make perfect sense-each existing club gets an ECNL 1 and 2 league team of 11 each plus leftovers, and it strengthens existing clubs while keeping Richmond rolling in the dough. FCV would not have the player pool for two ECNL teams though Arlington would through promotion of red players and DA-hybrid players. Brilliant deduction! Already being done at Bethesda and other NE division clubs...

The problem is committing to be on a ECNL B team. There are lots of desperate and dumb people out there but nobody is leaving a current situation for a patch on a B team.

It doesn’t mean it isn’t what Richmond doesn’t hope to do but don’t argue about “dilution” again.

They do at Bethesda-have an ECNL 1 and 2 team each with 18 on roster-in NE conference they have their own ECNL regional league. Maybe that will happen in MA too.

Not sure I understand...VDA won’t carry a large roster size (30 players) or VDA won’t be honest to players when trying to make a decision?

ECNL 2 by any other name is just a B team. Stop with claiming they are the same thing. If you are ECNL 2 you are NPL or a B team. You are NOT the ECNL team. You get a patch that is all.

Why would anyone leave a club like FCV to wear the patch of a B team?

PDA places two teams per age group in actual ECNL league play, and even there, one of the teams is still the B team and does not get the priority or showcasing opportunities of the A team.

A B team is a B team no matter what the patch or how much you pay.

I’m not claiming the ECNL 2 team is the same and equivalent to the ECNL 1 team. I’m just saying if they are doing this in NE league then they might try and do with MA conference too particularly in the bigger clubs like McLean and Loudoun. BRYC already poised to do it with their large player pool. VDA has also mentioned a composite team if you read these threads carefully.

I’m still not following the overall point. It is still a B team no matter the league name. So it takes a composite team, breaks it up, puts kids 19-30 on the ECNL 2 team and now suddenly they are happy because they are paying ECNL prices to play against CYA and VSA?

It is a B team! So instead of claiming a player is DP player who gets to occasionally play with the ECNL squad they are just going to call ALL the players a composite, give them a patch and all is good?

ECNL seems to want the two tier system. As I understood, some NE teams fought it but then became mandatory. I think one of the reasons ECNL won’t admit more teams is they would rather their existing teams have this two tier system like NE.

The only very small benefit we have seen for someone on the ECNL II team is that all the teams play one weekend so the coaches see B team players more than a system where they never see them play. (Of course, you need a club that does watch multiple teams). Also If you keep the rosters reasonable, you can also have players move between teams. That works more when the teams are small. Still at the end of the day, it’s way too much travel and costs for a B team

Of COURSE they want the “two tier” system. Follow the $$$$$$$$$. As stated before, you’re a real sucker to accept a spot on a B team paying A dollars to subsidize the valued players on that team. Not to mention the parents thinking they are in some sort of pro/rel system on the “ECNL regional” NPL teams.

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear ECNL staff police these threads and post regularly. As that’s probably not true, hope they are paying you well. I’m sure the sentiments will change once DC gets bumped off the A team for the next man/woman up.

But look at Louise's letter to you! She basically admits that you pay and they offer virtual soccer and use your money to maintain fields and pay coaches. The letter is disgusting money grab. Don't pay until next year if your ego can be put aside. Your DD is not playing anyway.
