NP here.

OP, thank you so much for sharing your experiences here, and I am so, so glad you are recovering. As someone who was a single mom for a couple years when my child was ages 2-4, I want you to know what an AWESOME job you did. Please, don't ever feel guilty about any of it. Your son is fine, you got through this, and you did an amazing job. I cannot imagine being in the same boat (I would be so, so worried if I was still totally on my own even with a 7yr old right now) and how I would have handled it. Big hugs to you and your son, and best wishes that every day sees you feeling better and better.

Thank you for sharing your experience! In glad you are feeling better!

Sorry if I missed it, but do you have a metallic taste in your mouth? I've had that the last couple days, which I've never experienced before. A family member had a fever, but my temp has ranged 98-99.3.

I’m not the OP but I read an article yesterday that said metallic taste in mouth can be a covid symptom.

OP, have you had any kind of skin conditions - like a strange rash or hives that come and go? Starting to see more and more info pop up that Covid is causing skin issues.

Metallic taste in mouth also means pregnancy...

No rashes. My skin would get very flushed with fever but I never had a rash. Several people do have rashes from what I’ve heard. There are an array of bizarre symptoms that can come with this.

I went to the doctor on Sunday morning (yes Easter!). There are lot of great medical professionals and scientist who are making things happen that I hope can make some people feel a bit safer. I let my primary care physician know I tested positive and had been pretty sick but avoided hospitalization. She let me know she and her team aren’t working right now but the office has been turned into place for recovered patients to get a check-up and also help researchers. A lot of great doctors, nurses, and researchers. Many still students. I was suppose to go in Tuesday but had a spot for Sunday. These folks are working everyday. They take about 4-5 patients a day. I waited in my car until I was called in and had to confirm my positive status first and fill out some forms. Everyone working was in full protective gear. I went through a back door straight into a room covered in plastic (not fully covered, but the chairs, examination table was covered). Nurse comes in and gets my vitals. No fever, but blood pressure slightly elevated. I’m asked a lot of questions about my health, my symptoms, my recovery and it’s all recorded on computer. I had to sign release form approving they could use information for research. I get a chest x-ray by a tech in full gear. My x-Ray doesn’t show signs of damage or pneumonia but a bit of fluid retention around chest cavity and heart which was but concerning. My heart rate is a bit high (126 resting, but I was anxious). My oxygen rate is good! 98% I get an EKG because of retention and elevated heart rate/BP. It comes back normal, but I said I’ve started having issues with heart palpitation. I get my blood drawn as well but haven’t gotten results on anything they found. Testing for antibodies and any issues with organ failure (which no one things I have) and they information gathered will be used for research. I have another check up set up for early May. They also are taking blood plasma donations once they approve a patient for donations (not there yet, but soon).

If you have been sick, call around your area to see if you can find something similar. Right now they’re working in areas that are taking a hit (NY, NJ, LA) but plans on expanding and other independent universities and hospitals are doing work nationally as well.

Ex-H is still hospitalized on oxygen but is avoiding getting vented. He seems to be turning a corner.

Not OP, but I did have funny red marks on my face for a few days, summering I’ve never seen before. I was sick at the time and tested positive.

OP provided update on a new thread. Sadly, her ex died due to COVID. He was a relatively young man in his 30s.

Update on my health.

I’ve felt better but earlier this week started exhibiting odd symptoms. Periods of shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and dizziness/nausea.

I went to doctor and got an x-ray and my lungs are clear. However, my left pulmonary artery is very dilated. I saw a cardiologist and my heart as of now looks like that if someone 40 years my age which is really scary. I’ve been out on some medications and I’m being monitored but it seems like some folks with COVID are either getting heart, organ or neurological issues which is very frightening. We are still learning.

I’m feeling better on medication and knowing I’m being monitored.

This is super scary OP.

I know a handful of people with COVID. All with mild symptoms who are having various weird neurological symptoms now. So much unknown.

Oh, no. How scary. I do hope you make a complete recovery.

How are you emotionally? I know your ex was an ex, but it is still terrible.

Hanging in there. My son doesn’t understand and I don’t have it in me to fully explain the finality of death to him. He knows his father died but keeps asking when he can go visit him or when he gets better. This is hard.

Also terrified that I’m going to die (not even if COVID) and leave my son alone.

Glad you are feeling better!!!

It seems like diarrhea isn’t common but it’s not rare.

I think GI issues alone is probably a stomach bug or FP.

NP. My case started.with a headache, nausea and GI issues
