I wrote about my experience with COVID-19 recently and can’t find the thread but thought some may want an update on my ex-husband who was also battling COVID-19 but had much more severe symptoms.
He passed away late last night and were shocked. He was on oxygen but there weren’t talks of intubation yet and then suddenly he declined within an hour or so and passed away without ever being vented. He was 36, non-smoker but overweight. He didn’t have any known health issues aside from high cholesterol. We don’t know exactly what happened. My heart is broken for my son, who has lost his father. I know a lot of you don’t know anyone who has died or become very sick yet. I really hope it stays that way. Take this seriously. |
| I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you and your son are doing well. |
| I'm so sorry. Was he in the hospital when he passed away? |
| So so sorry. Take care op. |
| Sorry, OP. Virtual hugs to you and your son |
| So sorry, OP. That is so hard. All the best wishes to you and your son. |

I’m so sorry, OP!
It was probably a cytokine storm. This is what we fear most, because we don’t know why some patients react that way. It doesn’t appear to be related to their underlying conditions. We think it may be due to a particular genetic make-up, associated with an ACE-2 mutation. Some doctors are keeping a close eye on IL6 levels because they’ve noticed a correlation, and that way they identify patients who are mire at risk, but once decompensation starts, there’s not much to hope for... |
| I’m so sorry, OP. I’ll keep you and your son in my prayers. |

I am so sorry OP.
I appreciate you taking the time to share this as many people still seem to think this virus only kills really old people. |
| I remember the thread. I can try to find it to link in here. I think you have a 4 year old? |
| I am so so sorry OP. |
How do we know we’re at risk? |
Yes. |
