I am a NP who has been sick this week. I am doing well, but when I was feeling sickest and couldn't get out of bed I realized that although we have lots of food in the house, much of it is stuff my kids don't know how to cook: dried beans, canned goods, lentils, odd vegetables, etc. We are low on the kinds of foods they'd normally fix or themselves, like eggs, cheese, chips, sandwich makings. Fortunately DH is well, but as soon as I felt okay I taught my teen to cook rice. If your kids are littler I'd suggest stocking up on breakfast cereal, granola bars, and snacks with packaging they can open and eat by themselves. Make sure some of that food is somewhere a little kid can reach, just in case your kid is hungry and you can't prepare food or get to the kitchen.

I was.sick with CV. I recommend the above. Also, have Mucinex and acetaminophen at home. My doctor told me to take vitamins C, D, E and zinc, so I would take those available and start taking now. She also recommended breath exercises like the ones mentioned earlier in this thread,.and.told me to .do long bike rides to help rehab my lungs, so I would think building your cardio vascular endurance in advance would be beneficial.

I’ve felt better but earlier this week started exhibiting odd symptoms. Periods of shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and dizziness/nausea.

I went to doctor and got an x-ray and my lungs are clear. However, my left pulmonary artery is very dilated. I saw a cardiologist and my heart as of now looks like that if someone 40 years my age which is really scary. I’ve been out on some medications and I’m being monitored but it seems like some folks with COVID are either getting heart, organ or neurological issues which is very frightening. We are still learning.

I’m feeling better on medication and knowing I’m being monitored.

I had a mild case but am worried about the comment above about "neurological issues." What are people experiencing? Do you mean they are experiencing them "after" they are better OR do you mean the issues are part of their illness. Am concerned about the unknowns.

Hey all.

Another update.

On May 3rd I had a mild stroke. I had been feeling off all day, very lethargic and dizzy. These were not abnormal symptoms for me post COVID but I have been feeling really good for the last couple of weeks.

I decided to take a nap and woke up and vomited and then realized I couldn’t move half of my face and the left side of my body felt numb and hard to control. I was having issues walking and called 911. Thankfully my son has been spending time at a relatives house.

I was very confused as paramedics arrived and don’t remember much. We still don’t know why I had a stoke, we suspect it is COVID related but can’t confirm.
