Ummmm and this is bad?

Of course it is! Do you know what dancing leads to? Have you seen 'Footloose' (the ORIGINAL one?)

WTF is up with this anyway? Are they on a sitcom, facing the camera?

DH had our first night out in EONS the other night and on literally both sides of us were couples doing this.

BTW, I sat on DH's lap when we got home and it led to illicit behavior--twice. So, yes, it is disgusting.

DH tried to sit with me like that our first few dates. I just can't sit next to someone when there is an empty seat across the table.

you need serious therapy ... seriously... perspective .. shit that matters? ya know ... ?

This is sweet and nice. Clearly some really uptight and unhappy ladies here.

I lived in Germany, Belgium, Italy, and England and I never saw women sitting in their husband's lap. Maybe this simply isn't done in the diplomatic corps but I knew many people from many different walks of life and this never happened. Yes, it is a faux pas in this country.

Barf. I have seen my recently remarried senior citizen mom sit on her new husband's lap, and I almost vomited on myself.

chill out, Emily Post, who elected you arbiter of all things proper?

"faux pas" depends on context and you have no brief to claim to speak to any sort of rule IMO.

My wife would sit on my lap in private setting and in public and I am happy to have her on my lap. As long as both husband and wife are comfiortable with that, I see no problem. Cheers,

This has got to be a joke right? Whats wrong with wife sitting in husbands lap in front of the kids. Dont be a bitter jealous hag!

There's nothing parent/child about the way I sit in my husbands lap and slowly and subtlely dry hump his groin as I pretend to lean over to adjust my hem or my drink on the table. I do it very slowly so no one can tell and I don't snog him. Certainly not at a formal event (or not in the middle of it, anyway) but with family and friends.
