wife sitting in husband's lap

Absolutely nothing wrong with this.

I know one couple who used to do it in church! Everybody thought it was very sweet.

I can't see anything inappropriate about it unless they're naked or making out or something.

What is so wrong about kids seeing people in love or showing the ones they love affection in appropriate ways?

We have a friend who doesn't even like to see any spousal affection in her house and will actually tell you not to if she catches you (and I don't mean tongue, just a kiss or holding each other's waists while standing around chatting). Her husband complained to mine that he pleads for sex about once per week and she hasn't said yes in at least a year.

If your kid gets to watch Disney Princess wedding kisses they can handle seeing real humans show affection after marriage.

This just makes me sad.

This is sadly symptomatic of the moral vacuum in which all too many of us live nowadays. The fact that a House of God can be turned into a Sty of Lust and Degradation leaves me feeling jaded and despondent.

I wonder how this "sweet couple" will feel at the End Times, when everyone else from their church ascends to sit by the side of the Lord, and just the two of them are left sitting on each other in a pew, bumping ugglies?

HAH! I wish i could figure out how to copy this quote to other posts, too - I love it!

Sounds like a cool church. Where is it?

"i would find a sterile, unemotional household to do more damage than a normal warm, loving one."

NO LIE!

"That doesn't bother me but my pet peeve are people who sit on the same side of a booth together in a restaurant."

Me too, but my DH and I had to resort to doing this today as apparently some 4 year olds went to a restaurant without their parents. Couldn't hear myself talk. They were the only kids in the whole place so misbehaved and the adults that were there (presumably parents, but they were ignoring their kids screaming) needed a slap.

WTF is up with this anyway? Are they on a sitcom, facing the camera?

DH had our first night out in EONS the other night and on literally both sides of us were couples doing this.

BTW, I sat on DH's lap when we got home and it led to illicit behavior--twice. So, yes, it is disgusting.

I can understand you personally not wanting to sit on the same side of the booth as your husband, but why do you care enough that others do it to call it your "pet peeve?" It's kind of kooky to care that much about what other people want to do when it has absolutely no impact on you.

This is the joke, right?

I think it's somewhat normal for a couple in their 20's, but after that, it seems strange. Not saying it's bad, just unexpected. Especially if it is for any length of time. I mean, if the 60 year old couple acrossed the street did it - I admit I would think it is weird. But much more welcome than a tongue in the ear

Not every instance of casual closeness or display of affection is on par with bumping uglies, Pollyanna. It seems the Emily Post disciples have a dirtier minds than the ones doing the sitting.

DH tried to sit with me like that our first few dates. I just can't sit next to someone when there is an empty seat across the table.

Oh m'gawd, I'm almost 40 and routinely sit on my hub's lap and try to sidle up next to him at booths.

I had no idea I was being grody.

I haven't heard anyone say "grody" since the '80s.
