What’s wrong with Lena Dunham?

Lena Dunham's writing is interesting - Girls was great. And her performances are often fantastic / hilarious / moving.

But I have zero interest in her as a private person. Zero. She's just not as interesting as you all make her out to be.

She puts everything out there... she has zero boundaries. Nobody is interested in her per se- she is an attention seeker.

Yes she seems annoying, but I think the hate directed towards her is out of proportion to her personality, and is because we as a society like our women to be pretty, thin, and rule followers. She breaks a lot of rules for women, and it’s clear that we are so tribal and are trying to kick her out. She doesn’t belong, she’s not pretty enough, she’s too fat. You all sound so high school-ish, and hate her for having the audacity to think that someone like her, fat and not beautiful, could actually make it to the top. I personally wish there were more people like her, not exactly like her, but sort of like her, out there trying to break the rules for girls, so we have more than Jennifer Aniston as a role model.

I too am not super pretty, not thin, and I don't follow rules. However, unlike Dunham I don't flaunt my wealth and privilege, I think before I speak or write, and I don't sexually harass or assault others. It's a pretty low bar we've set for "celebrity" white ladies, and she doesn't rise to it.

I think it's funny that people on the first page of this were using Leonardo DiCaprio's reaction to Dunham as an arbiter of what appropriate behavior was. Oh yeah, let's see whether the famous womanizing millionaire who only dates serially thin models who get younger and younger every year can stand to be around an overweight lady who says whatever she wants and doesn't respect you for your fame or money. Let's take bets on that, shall we? I wish I could have been a fly on the wall of those sets just to watch DiCaprio's pained existential crisis that a lady who he found totally unattractive had the balls to exist around him and still speak and go about her business. Never mind Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I would pay to watch a movie about *that*.

Years from now, it will finally be revealed that Lena Dunham is a just another Fred Armisen character.

How is DiCaprio a "womanizer"? And isn't he entitled to date whomever he pleases? You sound like you could use therapy.

Hmmmmm.

That's what I love about these models, man. I get older, they stay the same age.
