What’s wrong with Lena Dunham?

I just tried to read her book Not That Kind of Girl, and am stopping in chapter two, around page 15. She thinks she's being edgy and cool by being super TMI and spilling tea on guys she went to college with. But she's just coming across to me as desperate for attention and desperate to be seen as cool. I'm returning it to the library today.

I thought maybe she'd come across differently in written form (I love Chelsea Handler's books even though I hated her first tv show, for example), but no, Lena doesn't.

They're both rich, if they wanted kids they could've had or adopted kids as single parents, like many other "terminally single" actresses (Charlise Theron, Kristin Davis, Sandra Bullock, Mindy Kaling, January Jones).

Add Kathy Griffin to the list too. I actually REALLY REALLY enjoyed Chelsea Handler in her prime years. I now follow her on insta and its kinda sad. I don't know if she or Kathy ever wanted children (I know Kathy had a husband for a decade or so) and I definitely don't think having kids makes you a complete woman but there does seem to be some sort of female curse on comedians.

You haven't kept up with Chelsea. She might be late to grow up and deal with her shit at about 40 but she is pretty damn remarkable. She really sort of self educated and is using her platform. If you hate her policy perspective that's fine but it can't be argued that she isn't using what she has to effect the change or just to inform the way she wants now. Her whole last book and last year or so has been about how she basically wrapped herself in armor after her brother died and didn't deal with shit and all her decisions in life were colored by that personally and professionally, andnd she completely examines her priveledge of being rewarded for bad behavior.

100% agree. Not having kids with this huge level of resources is absolutely a choice.

This makes me so sad. As a mom to boys, I am terrified of them being falsely accused of assault. Women have the upper hand every time, and it scares me.

If the roles had been reversed, Brad would be shamed, ridiculed, and never work a day in his life. He's be outcast and hated. Forever.

But this is ok? Scares me.

I'm a mom of boys and I actually know someone who had a falae accusation (there was eventually proof that wasn't refutable and the woman was really unstable sadly) and I STILL don't understand this mentality that I should fear false accusations. They are rare. Extremely. Shit , REAL accusations result in women getting threats and having to change their whole lives, there is basically zero incentive to falsely accuse. But she should be ashamed to put her hands on someone else's body without consent. Its gross. Period. I'm good if she reaps consequences from this and I'm not a hater at all. She is not on my radar really

If the remote possibility of your boys being targeted for harm is that terrifying to you, then it’s a really good thing that you didn’t have girls.
