I'm totally building this in my backyard.

Title 1 designation has everything to do with having a large number of FARMS students. You were arguing that Beall has a high percentage of FARMS students. It does not. It has a wealthier student population compared to many other schools in the County. |
And then you can rent it out to several families at $1000/month cash per family. MoCO will look the other way. |
I'm sorry, I still dno't get the relevance to busing or how this is a poster child for that? Busing is being proposed to make schools diverse, which Beall is. It sounds like you're saying that Beall is rich because it "only" 25% FARMS? I don't get how that's rich? That means one in four students need food assistance. It doesn't mean the other 3 out of 4 are wealthy. Not being on free and reduced meals does not mean you are wealthy. It means you are not in poverty, big difference. |
DP.. if you look at voting district by district, the "poor" parts of the county also voted blue, and despite what you've heard from Trump, no, illegal immigrants did not vote. The wealthy areas of Potomac voted less blue. So, what you wrote doesn't match the numbers. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/upshot/election-2016-voting-precinct-maps.html#12.23/39.0376/-77.1461 |
Now I've heard it all.. someone on DCUM (^^PP) claiming the RM cluster is "rich". Sure, it has less FARMs than some other clusters, but it has more than others. In any case, most of the homes in the RM cluster don't have the acreage to build a small unit. |
You seem to define "wealthy liberal in Montgomery County" as "someone who lives in Montgomery County who doesn't support Trump's anti-immigrant policies." Using that definition - yes, there are a lot of wealthy liberals in Montgomery County who don't support Trump's anti-immigrant policies. |
You can already build this in your backyard. What you can't do is rent it out as an accessory dwelling unit - with or without the ADU proposal. |
I’ll put an outhouse next door and we are good to go. |
I'm not claiming the entire RM cluster is rich. RM draws from other schools. Not just Beall. I'm claiming that Beall does not have a high FARMS/ESOL rate compared to a good number of schools in the County. Which is true. |
I'm the PP. Look, you are welcome to disagree as I said already. My kids attend a Focus school that has a higher FARMS and a higher ESOL rate. So, in my perspective, Beall is a wealthier area. Your kids maybe attend a wealthier school than Beall. I think they say something like once you go over 30% FARMS and 30% ESOL, that is when the school environment gets more challenging. I feel that 18% is pretty low. And, the busing thing is definitely not related, but I thought busing was to spread out the ESOL and FARMS rates over different schools. The 18% is on the lower end, IMO. |
Should be good. You can pay off the permit inspector. Or, just don't even bother with the permits. MoCo doesn't mind. |
| The county CAN and SHOULD enforce shanty rental properties. There should be fines, this is a goldmine. I don't like the idea of changing zoning. We do NOT need new laws or codes, enforce what's already in place. Codes and laws are race and citizen and class blind. stop being afraid to pursue certain communities. |
We can enforce the existing regulations AND ALSO enact new regulations. |
They should. The current housing market is *just* starting to clear the illegal multifamily rentals / rooming houses from my neighborhood. |
