It is a horrifying death for any person. It is terrible for the family to know that their loved one died in this way. It is terrible for the family to know that their child was a sex worker. Still, she was the victim of a serial killer who has probably done this before and would have continued to kill if he was not apprehended.

I think we need to concentrate on the fact that she was the victim of a depraved, sadistic, sexual-deviant serial killer. We should not be victim shaming here. Very sad for this yoing woman and her family. She was someone's child and family member. Lets not forget this.

And let’s remember that when a victim is an undocumented Latina or a black transwoman.

Or any woman of color period. There's been a serial killer running rampant in Chicago for a decade. No headlines like this (and I won't get into why) - but more men who are preying on women's lives need to be taken off the streets.

We always meet in a public place first. Then it’s usually their house, hotel, or a car (fancy, I know). It’s a dangerous lifestyle but the thrill and the money was great. It is also VERY addicting. You want more fast cash. You want to be wanted. You want the sex. I feel bad for her but I am not shocked at all.

I wish I’d done that years ago. I am an ES teacher with massive student loan debt. I’m 35 & kinda dumpy now, but wish I’d been smart enough to do this 10 years ago.

On the plus side, you weren’t murdered by a SD like Mackenzie was.
This thread blows my mind. I had no idea so many people thought this was an acceptable way to make money. I’m not casting moral judgement— just looking at it from a safety perspective.

From a safety perspective - it’s stupid.

From a morality perspective - I see this as no different from women who make it their life’s mission to marry a ‘Provider’ and never work a day in their lives.

There is no comparison between a married woman and a paid prostitute. A married couple chooses to openly commit themselves to one another and form a legal union. The prostitute/john arrangement is an illegal business transaction in most states.

1- Should it be illegal? Who are we to declare what a woman can or cannot do? What's your opinion on abortion?
2- 50% of married couples divorce. 45-50 percent of married women and 50-60 percent of married men cheat.... But sure "they commit themselves to one another and form a legal union."
3- And you are full of shit. "I';m not casting moral judgment" but hang on lemme thump my bible and tell you what a sinner you are.

DP, but I’m a pro-choice atheist. I can still recognize that sex work is exploitative and dangerous, and not at all the same as marriage.

+1. If it didn’t happen at 3am with this woman, it could have easily happened to another one on her 2nd or 3rd date with this guy.

So many people saying he was a serial killer. Have the police said that, or are you just speculating?

The police have not said he killed anyone else. Its people speculating based on the interview with a contractor the man approached to install a sex dungeon/torture room in his basement (hooks and soundproof facilities) plus his own comments about witnessing two murders very similar to what he did the woman they know he killed.

He may have just been a disturbed individual.

Which is racist. The man could very well have been designing a music enjoyment room with hooks for decorations. Why all the negative speculation? Oh, immigrant from Africa.

A music room with a lock that's thumb print activated so only he can get in? Sure, that sounds legit....

And "hooks" on the wall? Besides, he wrote a book about what he did including burning the body.

The guy is a monster. But no one had an issue when he was abusing his AA wife.

Google is your friend.

The guy isn't a serial killer. To be a serial killer he would have to be better at it. Putting a mattress online and burning her in his backyard doesn't tell me that he's a guy who knows how to do this successfully.

Exactly! If he was apprehended after he raped, tortured, killed and burned his AA wife, I would be equally outraged. Do not make it a race issue. It is not as if he was a White man preying on minority women and got away after repeatedly found with the murder weapon in his hand as he butchered his victims, just because of his race. Women of all color are abused by men in their lives and the families very often do nothing to rescue their sisters, mothers, daughters or even report it. What is unreported cannot get the attention of the society.

This may be the very first murder of a very disturbed and evil individual, and he was caught. Maybe the victim would have been black, latina, underage, a toddler, asian, elderly man, woman or child. Why does that matter? A very sick murderer was caught.

Maybe, Mackenzie Lueck told her friends to report if she did not turn up at work after her assignments. Perhaps they knew that she was in a risky line of work and so they were vigilant in reporting.
