Recognizing that prostitution is dangerous isn't saying that prostitutes deserve to die. AT ALL. It's not "cruel" to point that out.

Of course our hearts go out to her parents. They most likely had no idea about that.

Why are you people focusing on the victim instead of the animal that killed a young woman and then burned her body?

Because people should be aware that having sex for money can be dangerous, even if it’s dressed up as a “sugar baby” situation.

People have a self preservation instinct. It is natural to want to know if there are behaviors to avoid or new emerging risks. Thus, people want any specifics related to those things.

This has nothing to do with women's empowerment. Men do questionable things all the time, like murder people.

People kill each other all the time. Men and women. What a stupid thing to say pp.

The vast majority of killers are men.

If she'd been a proper prostitute she would have had someone acting as her 'pimp' for protection. At the very least she could have been smart enough to only meet up with a SD in broad daylight in a public place.

A PARK at 3AM? She was either desperate for money or drugs or both.

3 am or 3 pm? We need to know so we can know HOW MUCH to blame the victim. Thanks.

This is how much you can blame her.

That combined with being dropped off alone in the middle of the night at a park to provide sex work proves how stupid she was.

So has he done this before? Murdered and burned some girl?

I guess if she was meeting up with that guy at a dark park in the middle of the night, she was doing so with the intention of having consensual sex with him in exchange for something (money? drugs?). She wasn't worried about being raped by him because she was meeting up with him to have sex. She had done this sort of thing enough before that she thought that she had a good handle on what was going to happen. She would give him what he wanted and he would give her what she wanted.

But this guy turned out to be a serial killer - yes, I do think that he has done this before. I'm sure that her death was absolutely horrific. Her poor parents.

She was working as an escort. There are some college girls who do this to male ends meet.

And they have no common sense. There are plenty of less-risky ways to make ends meet. We as parents need to bluntly educate our kids (male and female) about the dangers that come with selling yourself.

Meeting this guy alone in a dark park just seems so....desperate on her part. I would not be surprised to hear that she had some sort of addiction. Addiction makes people do desperate, sad, degrading things.

I discussed this with my DD, who is currently in college. She told me that all of her roommates are into the whole sugar daddy/sugar baby scene - meaning they are either currently doing it, or are totally open to doing it. She tells them they're all crazy for doing it, but clearly they don't care.

That's very scary. It's good that your daughter is using better judgement than her roommates are but what if one of them brings one of these sugar daddys home or has one of these guys show up on their doorstep? That could put your daughter in danger even though she is not directly involved in any of these arrangements.

She needs better friends.
