It’s ranked #27. That’s certainly not mediocre, but it’s definitely not a “top” school.

If she were the child of a Republican president, people would tend to view this decision as evidence of her being more interested in partying than academic pursuit.

Uh? Have you read the thread ... that's exactly what people are saying now so hardly a partisan issue.

Plus it’s a public state school which is a very different experience than a top private.....not necessarily worse, but very different.

For the last time, she got into Yale but chose Michigan.

Where are you finding news of her decision? I know there were rumors last December but has there been some kind of announcement? Or are you a Sidwell parent?

Objectively, there are not 26 schools better than Michigan. Simply not true.

Many of the smartest kids in the country choose UCLA, Michigan, Berkeley, etc. Maybe they like the size and feel of a public university, maybe they don't want to be surrounded by Jared Kushners, or maybe they just can't afford Harvard. Regardless of the reason, if she happens to go to Michigan, Sasha will be in excellent company.

Some of you seem to be frozen in time as 7th grade mean girls.

Choosing between these three schools is splitting hairs. Michigan has phenomenal resources and Ann Arbor is a great college town. Go Blue Sasha!

You clearly don't understand the word "objectively."

Why is it that everyone is universally praising Michigan, and acting as if it's not the least bid odd that she would choose it over Yale, and yet this same board often disparages UVA. UVA is ranked higher than Michigan.

No. It’s not. It’s a good state school comparable to other good state schools.

Or they would say that she (the Republican’s child) is dumb.

There are about 4000 4-year colleges in the US. If you don't consider a school ranked in the top .7% of all schools in the US "top"...you are bad at math.

That's because the vast majority of people didn't go to Ivy's. Ivy grads still do very well for themselves.

Please. The plural of Ivy is Ivies.

A lot of their graduate programs are ranked higher than Ivy League schools.
