Woman here, I wouldn’t care at all.

I seriously doubt this. Most men don't have the dosh to spend on paid "companionship".

I doubt this number, but money doesn't have much to do with it. Sex work doesn't start and stop at high class call girls. I wish it did! Depending on your level of depravity, you can buy sex for very, very little. Shamefully little. These guys some PPs are referencing hiring prostitutes in places like India and Thailand might be shelling out 10 bucks.

Let me ask, a woman walking into a bar looking for a one night stand can find it a million times easier than the average guy. So a man buys her a few drinks and she leaves with him - someone she has never seen before and will never see again. For all she knows, he could have an STD or be nuts.

Now a man who knows he is probably going to leave empty-handed from a bar says who needs this and sees an escort for an hour and gets what he wants.

Would someone please tell me what is the difference? This is why there are almost no gigolos in the world.Women have much easier access to free sex. So a man should have no sex based on this reality?

Both are wrong. One involves commoditizing sex and so is marginally worse

There is so much uninformed opinion in this thread. Just to let y'all know. I am a man. I have never paid for sex. However, I think the reality surrounding sex work is much different from what is popularly portrayed and believed. Noor Tagouri did a deep dive into the world of sex work in America. I think you will be surprised at what you hear.

Can you briefly summarize? The ridiculous media has convinced Americans that everybody and their sister is being trafficked. Some are coerced. Some aren't. And some situations are more nuanced. Remember the woman trafficked in the Kraft scandal...lol

Lets say we are certain there are no drugs or trafficking involved. A person choosing to use her body to make money. I do not have a problem with it.

I have gone to strip clubs, even those "special ones" on the block in Baltimore.

I know where to get a HE in northern VA.

To me, it is just a release. Nothing more. I did not want the emotional entanglements. In terms of risk, it is low risk for disease if you are smart. A HJ will not give me an STD. Oral sex with a condom is safe.

There is a joke: you are not paying a prostitute for sex, you are paying her to leave after it is over.

The moral objections to sex work should focus on trafficking.

I do not see how picking up someone is wrong. It might differ from your moral code, but not mine.

Nobody is saying picking up someone is wrong. But think about it? Why are sex workers 99% women getting paid by men (except for gay situations)? It's because men have a much higher sex drive but conversely have a more difficult time finding a partner. Not saying it is right but there is a reason they call it the world's oldest profession.

+1
Plenty of low drive wives are grateful to the sex workers who keep their marriage together.

You have to get to India and Thailand first. From the US, most men can’t afford the ticket in the first place.

And you know this how?

For those condemning men going to sex workers, how would actually define that? Does an exotic dance with no touching count? I assume not. What about a lap dance -- where the women is nude but the man is clothed? Is that the same problem or is that different? If its different, why is it different? Is it for a reason besides the disease risk because that can all but certainly be addressed?
