Fine, I’ll spell it out for you because apparently you are too stupid to understand the difference.....one was an orchestrated hoax for personal gain where the perpetrator knowingly filed a false police report whilst the others were cases of mistaken identity. And I have no desire to see this Smollett moron in jail.

Think Before You Post
Hoax Threats are Serious Federal Crimes

Issuing a threat—even over social media, via text message, or through e-mail—is a federal crime (threatening interstate communications). Those who post or send these threats can receive up to five years in federal prison, or they can face state or local charges.

So I think Jussie paid the bros to create and mail that stupid "threatening" letter to his place of work. If they trace it back to the bros - and the FBI is on this now - who gets into trouble? both parties?

This is the angle they're taking b/c it's mail tampering - and a false threat, which was disruptive.

The statue is a civil penalty unless there is reckless disregard for human safety.

It's known as the "bomb threat" law since so many white kids call in fake bomb threats to get out of tests.

It happens all the time and not worth the time and effort of the police or states attorney to follow up, which is why it is simply a civil penalty... like paying a fine.

Wow - thanks

In other words, the Chicago police should focus on crimes where people are REALLY hurt.

I hope he never works again. He is not a role model for anyone. He's a self-absorbed liar.

And a racist pig.

And a great role model for black people according to the NAACP, which just decided to give him an Award.

He did not get an award yet. His nomination pre-dates his arrest. The awards are this weekend, so unless you have a time machine and a crystal ball...

Facts matter, folks.

You guys need to stop. He has only been nominated for an award and the nomination pre-dates his arrest.

Nominations can be rescinded. This one hasn't. On the contrary, the event host just said he hopes Smollett wins.

I hope the does, to expose the stupidity at NAACP.

Our govt allowed an ACCUSED assaulter to become a supreme court justice
The Academy allowed an ACCUSED assaulter to receive an Oscar (Casey Affleck, Woody Allen)
We elected an ACCUSED sexual predator to the Oval office.

In each case, some people believed one side and some believed the other. This is no different. Smollett was accused, but everything was dropped. Unless you are a 100% consistent that all these accused but not tried people should have been knocked down, then I would just chalk it up to the way the world works. We

More specifically and in less emotionally charged language, all charges against him were dropped so there's no reason to rescind the nomination.

That's why the "we're dropping all charges in exchange for community service and forfeiture of the bond" makes no sense. It seems like a plea deal, which would mean that he was found guilty of a *misdemeanor? felony?*. But somehow they skipped that part while accepting his "not-a-plea" deal.

I was curious how other folks were reacting, so I asked my Black friend and she said all of her people thought he was totally 100% innocent and framed by Chicago PD because Chicago PD has a habit of framing black folks. I thought that was an interesting view of how different groups were viewing this.

My H is a white cop and while he doesn't think they framed him he think the compromised the investigation so much that it would be impossible to prove in court and actually unable to prove either way.

There is no way to prove the cops did not feed the brothers the "they got paid" story to save face since they obviously came out immediately treating Jussie as a suspect instead of a victim.

exactly

Who the F cares if it predated his disgusting act? He should not be honored for a damn thing. He's a liar - and a bad one - and a terrible actor for that matter.

I have a good AA friend in NYC who's in theatre. At this point, she thinks he's guilty but being played as well. She said she just wants the story to die down. And she, too, doesn't trust Chicago PD.

Maybe if cops didn't frame innocent people so often, they'd have more credibility when they say someone is guilty. Just a thought.

So your argument is that everyone accused but not tried or convicted should be struck down in shame? Say what you will about Smollett, this seems like a bad path...
