Is it time to ban heading in women's soccer? (or in soccer all together?)

Football is an extreme contact sport. You are probably the type of parent that would not have your child wear shin guards too unless it was required, claiming it doesn’t prevent injuries. LOL

Knowing what I know today about concussions, CTE and PED, I am steering my kids away from any physical contact sports. It is not worth the risk but that's just me.

Omg, then why in the world are you here? On a soccer forum? Soccer is and always has been a contact sport. Go find a place to be with other like minded souls. Today, there truly is something for everyone. But soccer is NOT for you. Clearly

DP - nitpick here, soccer like basketball is a non-contact sport with incidental contact and some bumping. If taking another player down were legal in soccer, then it would be a contact sport. Football, hockey, rugby, ... those are contact sports.

Bruh, yes I did. I could have posted several others, but I thought the break down was nice and simple for the simple folk who keep trying to morph soccer into something else.

I don't know what your first question is, but I for sure play, slide tackle, head the ball, and shoulder to shoulder isn't just simple brushing back and forth like lovers do. It's a physical contest for the ball.

Soccer is absolutely a contact sport. What do these people think shielding the ball entails?

Yeah, I laugh every time I hear people try to say it isn't. And in no country is it more physical than ours

Puhleez. I don't hate soccer, but those "contact" clips was just bumping and positioning like posting up in basketball. Non-contact doesn't mean no touching in the traditional definition of these types of sports. Sorry if saying soccer is a non-contact sport diminishes your manhood (for lack of a better expression). It was like when people thought helmet-wearing hockey players were lesser players, whimps. Don't let this attitude prevent you from seeing that changes to rules and/equipment *may be* necessary.

Changes aren't necessary; changes aren't coming.

Prediction:

For the 2019-2020 year, US soccer will examine the evidence and conclude that they should push back the age at which heading is permitted to U15.

Is this based on any data or inside information or are you just stirring the pot?
