Seneca Valley Expansion

Yes, most people believe diversity is important, even diversity in SES.

40% economically disadvantaged is too high/not diverse enough.

45% of students in MCPS are now or have previously received free and reduced meals.

What's your suggestion?

It doesn't matter if they do or not but that will largely determine home values. I actually would agree that this does not have to determine the quality of the school but since we are in Moco, where all curriculum is the same unless you have a critical mass of high performing students then that makes higher performing/higher income relevant.

Notwithstanding many posters' apparent beliefs, this is the Maryland Public Schools forum, not the Montgomery County Real Estate forum.

Different topics intersect quite often.

Anonymous wrote:What a bunch of ignorance.... Seneca Valley and Nortwest are drastically different. Seneca is a 4 and NW is a 8. Just as good as BCC. One of the best schools in the county and improving everyday. The question is whether Seneca valley will get better or worse with the expansion. We might end up with 3 pretty good high schools up here.

I haven't ever heard anybody who lives in Germantown refer to it as "Seneca". Where do you live?

On the other hand I have never heard a student refer to the school as “Seneca Valley”. It’s always “Seneca”.
Some adults will say “Seneca Valley”. I’ve livevup here since 1985.

MCPS, please help. Germantown schools need more resources and money.

Yes. I live in Northwest cluster. Since I moved here I've heard my neighbors teenagers refer to it as Seneca, so that stuck with me.

It is for the purposes of schooling. We can pretend all we want or play games with words but Boyd’s/ Germantown are one in th3 same

No, they are not one and the same. Boyds is zoned for the Clarksburg cluster.

Park of Boyds goes to NW.

No, part of Germantown goes to Northwest.

Most of Boyds goes to Clarksburg, but some of Boyds goes to Poolesville.

Not quite right, we live in Boyds and we go to Northwest. Of course our part of Boyds (by the soccerplex) has a boyds zip code but is practically germantown

What do you call North Potomac then? Gaithersburg? because it isn't in Gaithersburg city limits.

North Potomac, despite it's proximity to Gaithersburg IS North Potomac. Just like Boyds IS Boyds, despite its proximity to Germantown.

LOL I live in Woodcliffe Park and so called Boyds too but honestly we are nothing like the rest of Boyds and are completely Germantown. I don’t understand this crap. Boyds goes to Clarksburg High and is out near the lake not near the South Germantown soccerplex
