Obviously she is using donor eggs.

I'm not so sure about that. During a conversation with my OBGYN the other day about birth control, she mentioned that a patient, who was in her 50s, recently found out she was (naturally) pregnant. It happens. What am I supposed to do if my birth control failed and I got pregnant? I'm 48. Some states are making it harder and harder to abort, so...

Well maybe in bumbf*ck Idaho or wherever you're from that's typical--but here in the big city, I was 44 with 2 2 year olds and had my 3rd at 45. Get over yourself.

uhhh...you are aware that 45 is not 54, right?

I'm 2 years younger than Brigette Nielsen and I think she's nuts for a having a baby at her age when she already has adult children. There will be a 34 year age difference between her oldest child and her youngest child. She will be 88 years old when her youngest is 34.

What’s your point? When my dad was 88, I was 39. He was sharp as a tack until he died 2 years later. We had years of quality time together.

You were very lucky to have a dad who was sharp as a tack, and I'm assuming healthy and independent, until he died at the age of 90. Just be aware that there are nursing homes full of elderly people who are a decade or more younger than your father was when he died.

Bridget Nielsen has the good fortune of having 4 healthy, adult children who will very likely be giving her grandchildren soon if they haven't already. She will quite literally be of retirement village age on her next birthday. Why on earth does she need to be pregnant at her age? Doesn't she realize that she very literally looks like a pregnant senior citizen which is just bizarre and will get no less bizarre as she continues to age? What exactly is she trying to prove? What happens if she has some sort of major health setback during labor and delivery? Will it be up to her adult children to take care of the baby while they try to find appropriate care for their mother?

And do realize, that while your dad likely naturally fathered you, Bridgette Nielsen has almost certainly had some sort of heavy duty medical intervention to make this pregnancy happen. She's selfish.

My dad was 30 and my mom was 27 when I was born. They both died before I turned 35. Life and death are unpredictable. Pp sounds like she had an amazing life with her father and she enjoyed a few more years with him than I got with my own amazing dad.

I'm sorry that you lost your parents when they were still so young. but I don't think you realize just how difficult it could be for you now if you were dealing with an 80+ year old parent's nursing home issues while trying to manage the demands of babies and toddlers at home yourself.

Bridgette Nielsen will be in her 72 by the time her youngest child finishes HS, 76 by the time her youngest graduates from college which is around the age of life expectancy....

Why would her youngest child have to carry the entire burden of elder care for her?

she will have five kids; they will figure something out
also few people would choose not to have been born in order to avoid being stressed out in their fifties

This kid will be 26 with an 80 year old mother. Not 50.

It is extremely rare. The 50 year old woman also probably miscarried.

Um, first of all, I'm from NY. Second of all, you completely missed my point. My point was the huge age difference between oldest and soon to be youngest. You seem very defensive about your family planning. Maybe deep down you DO feel like 45 was old to be having a child.
45 is not 54.

What are you even talking about? No one cares.

It's her life. I think having a baby over 50 is too old for men and women but people make their own choices. I'm sure she could give a crap about what some random online poster thinks lol.

I'm sure that she could give a crap that her child will be the only kid in kindergarten with a 60 year old mother. But whatevs.

Who cares about this other than you? She isnt schlepping this kid to a charter school her in DC she has means and doesn’t have to rub elbows with catty moms on the playground. Her kid(s) will be fine, now go start your second shift.

Her other kids are grown ups in their 20's and 30's. They all probably left the nest a long time ago and are busy starting their own families.

If she socializes this last baby herself at all she will be doing the preschool, kindergarten, play date, park, sleep over, team sports, dance, etc stuff just like every other parent does. She's in decent enough shape so it shouldn't be too bad for her at least in the short term. Plus the father of the baby is young and apparently healthy so that's good.

And, you're right, this is obviously her decision.

Wow thats old. You could be their grandma. Obviously these weren't spontaneous pregnancies.

It's so obvious when people have twins with a first pregnancy in their 40's and I'd bet money that she used donor eggs. The defensiveness gives it away.

I agree with this. Bragging about having two 2 yo olds and a 3rd at 45 is ridiculous. And then saying that someone is from bumble**** Idaho can't appreciate that is just weird. Most women in this situation have been married no more than two years more than their oldest kid so they rushed the family planning to prove that you can have it all.

Women only have kids as old ladies because they didn't have a partner or they prioritized their work over kids and then snapped out of it. Newsflash... it's not backwards thinking to have kids in your late 20's/early 30's.

No clue what this has to do with Brigitte Nielsen. She had a partner, several in fact, had kids in her 20s/30s, and had a successful career. You're using this thread as an excuse to bash older mothers, but none of what you said applies to the subject of this thread.

Some celebrities are upfront about this which I appreciate. The odds are exceptionally low of having a healthy full term pregnancy the older you get, especially at 50. There shouldn't be a stigma about facts.
