Now the difference is by age 10 her father was back in her life 50/50 so I'm having help in the teen years now. I remember around 3 months during a crazy growth spurt I was so so tired. DH and I were barely functioning!!! Life became much easier 3 years later when I was able to retire. I will say your body just does what it needs to so. One night I even woke up with a little nipple leak!!!!!! I hadnt nursed in 26 years!!!

Ps: my other grown children and my sister really helped me too. I had breakdowns every few weeks and they would sweep in and cover me!

Pps: there are so many good things about a late in life child! My husband is the only 70 year old I know who can "floss". We are loving our second chance!

Wow! I’m so sorry for the loss of your daughter, but so happy to hear that raising your granddaughter has brought so much joy!

I am also sorry for the tragic loss of your daughter. It is wonderful that you were able to step in and be there for your precious grandchild like that.

I was at a college orientation with my son the other day and I was impressed by the number of grandparents attending with their grandchildren. I wondered at the time if I would have the energy to raise, support and guide a child at their age. But, like you said, you do what you have to. Love finds a way.
