Feedback on Cavaliers Travel Lacrosse

1. Cavs is not the same as VLC. Cavs is in the low to mid 3s. VLC is in the low 2s.

2. Cavs plays against terrible competition at terrible events. Part of developing players is having them challenged against strong players.

3. Most of Cav coaches are dads. No thanks. We already get that in rec.

4. Why do you think the owner quit coaching HS? Because he is too busy cashing in checks.

Give it a rest Madlax guy. High 3 low2? Meaningless ranking. Dad coaches?? Look in the mirror much? Team is run by current coaches Former owner returned to his day job after collecting HS coaching awards. Many local HS coaches and more non dad coaches than many clubs

LOL love how this thread is seven pages long ... wonder what club the original poster's son went with?

My son played Cavs, enjoyed it and made some friends. We left for the reasons many have stated - level of tournaments, coaching etc. just wasn't up to par. Cavs markets themselves well and blankets NoVA with coaches from local high schools, so they've got a decent feeder system. But top talent leaves every year.

Most of what is posted is a combination of funny, sad, and mildly interesting I hope parents do not put too much into anonymous posts when selecting teams. What club did your son go to? Is he better off now?

Went to VLC. Wouldn't change my decision, better tournaments, coaching and above all exposure. Has gotten interest from D1 - D3 schools.

Why do Cav's have two tryouts per year. Are they looking to replace players?

Two separate seasons.

They are not displacing anyone. They are trying to fill up empty spaces. My son was on the 2026 team and everyone pretty much left in the fall. Some other teams are struggling to find players.

Don't be so myopic or a troll. Families move or kids quit the sport or any other number of reasons. Most clubs usually have a few spots available.

Looks like 3d is trying to give it another try at least at the younger ages in Northern Virginia. Between Evergreen, Cav, Madlax, VLC, Top Caliber, and simply playing NVYLL it seems there are more teams than players. Someone will loose out.

After the 3d director left, they have only 3 teams. They were terrible to begin with. Doubt they can resurrect themselves.

Only Madlax and VLC can consistently field strong teams and have recruiting success. 3d, Evergreen, Cavs and TC are just there for the leftovers and make money.

Have options is a good thing - Battle Lax is another team. 3DS training gives lots of practice reps to its players - not a bad option for the younger kids.

I don't know who you think is "making money" at those clubs, but those coaches put in a hell of a lot of time and I am skeptical that they're getting paid a lot - especially if you calculate it on a per hour basis.
