+2 what a snob |
NP. I don't think it will mess up the metabolism at all. At least that is what all the new research is saying. That eating once a day doesn't make you lose muscle or slow down your metabolism at all. I have done the similar eating pattern here and there, and I can even go to my yoga class after just having coffee all day. Generally if I am going to exercise I will eat before it and then skip my dinner. |
There has been some controversy about Novak Djokovic, former no1 in tennis for a long while. He has at one point cut out all the gluten and after that had the best results in his career, he had prior to that had been mocked by just about all the other players for having asthma, allergy, even mockingly "antrax"...According to media he then went further into being almost vegan but maybe with little fish. There is speculation that it is this eating and not his injury that is the cause of his bad results today. I have no idea if any of this is true, but if it is, there might be some truth to that. My DS is a college athlete and eats a ton of everything, meat being his favorite and still can't gain much weight at all. BTW, what on earth are competitive bikini models? |
How are you a size 4 at 145 lbs? I am your height and I weight 135. I am a size 6. different body shapes, I guess |
NP but body shape has a lot to do with it. The heaviest I have ever been is 138 (at 5’4”) and I was a size 4 in clothes, although I definitely look chubby in pictures. Currently low 120s and would say I’m average, not thin, and I’m a 2. |
I'm the same and DH eats this way too. BTW, I am not skinny at all, more like thin and curvy with an average BMI at 5'7" and 140. I have maintained this weight for 15 years. My weekend schedule is the same as the PP, on weekdays I eat a light breakfast, heavy lunch (chipotle, kebabs, indian food, burger, thai food, or large salad) and only eat dinner about 1 time per week. The other nights I have nothing or may just have a latte or snack. |
If skinny is your goal, then this would work.
I can't imagine that you get enough nutrients to be healthy though. I used to do this. I was skinny but certainly not healthy. I had a roommate the same way. If your goal is merely skinny, then you've reached your goal. |
It is. But health is not the optimal outcome with this approach. |
Well I’ve been following this for the past couple weeks and it’s been triggering for me (from my childhood years).but I already can’t stop and feel incredible bc I can control not eating after 6pm. Scary and exhilarating at the same time. Like a high you’d get from drugs. |
Not trying to be insulting, but I don't understand what this poster is saying. They're triggered because they can control not eating after 6:00 PM? They're triggered because they, like OP, are "finally skinny"? |
I've started this sort of - eat in a 4 hr window midday. I have done IF for awhile but the shorter window is new. I do feel better and not deprived at all. I'm still eating a wide range of foods. To the pps who talk about disordered eating, can you tell me more? I'm genuinely asking because I don't want to go down a bad road. This seems to work better for me than counting or cutting out food groups like dairy or bread. I've tried WW in the past and it worked but I felt like I was focused on food 24/7. This way of eating feels like it frees up a lot of mental space.

About 4 years ago I completely changed the way I ate. I went from always eating three meals a day to fasting until as early as 2pm or as late as 7pm depending on what was going on that day. When I'm not fasting I just eat whatever I want, I usually keep it healthy but I also don't say no to dessert if it's available. I'm 5'7 and went from about 165 to 145. My weight has stayed very constant since I hit the 145, it's like it's where my body wants to be. I like the way I feel when I'm fasting, at first the hunger in the morning was horrible, but then it went away and I just feel good. My mind is very clear and my body feels content. In the past four years my blood work has also improved. Good cholesterol went up and bad went down. |
This is exactly my experience. Mentally IF is so much easier for me than anything else i've tried. I have a longer window (11-7) but feel great. I'm only losing at 1/4 lb a week but I feel like it's sustainable. I think three meals a day has just been pounded into this culture and people have a hard time seeing it as anything but "disordered". |
I'm going to try this. |
In fact, I'm starting today, and having a big ass Mexican enchilada meal from a hole in the wall, for lunch. Nothing else til tomorrow. Will rinse and repeat for the next 2 weeks and see how I feel. Sounds completely doable for me. |
