Dude, are you the owner? Jenny Cakes is the worst cake I've ever eaten. I live nearby and love cake so I keep trying it, but i am always so disappointed. Thor yellow cake has the taste and consistency of cornbread.

NP here and we just had a Jenny Cake last week that was delicious. Their cupcakes, too. Yum.

The prettier they are the worse they taste. This is fact.

Not true.

It is. I hate to break it to you, your perfectly smooth fondant cake was inedible.

I'm an eater. Not a baker.

I like fondant. Not everyone dies.

Everyone dies. So eat cake.

Thank You!

Bethel Bakery in Pittsburgh. I still dream about these cakes and it's been 20+ years since I've had one.

Another dissatisfied Jenny Cakes customer here. I got a cupcake there and it was so so stale it was inedible.

chocolate cake from Smurf's Cafe in Jamaica.

The cake broke when the lady tried to get it out of the pan so she gave it to us to take home with us free of charge. Little did we know it was worth $$$. 3 of us on that are bakers and couldn't believe our mouths. Must have baked it in a water bath or something, never had cake so moist. And there wasn't any weed in it, before anyone asks (that cake was so dry it was hard to swallow, and it was from a different establishment.)

Anonymous wrote:Does anyone know where I can buy a real old fashioned German Chocolate Cake? All the ones I've seen in stores in Northern Virginia have dark fudgy chocolate cake and I believe the cake is supposed to be a lighter color and have a slight coffee flavor, not so chocolatey. I believe the recipe calls for buttermilk too. I can't find one like that.

Have you tried Heidelberg bakery in Arlington? They are a German bakery.

German chocolate cake is named after a person.

The carrot cake at Praline. A friend brought it for my birthday 5 years ago and I still think about it!

I love the Pittsburgh recommendations! Thank you! Typically, I don't like anything to touch my cake -- especially fruit. I'm a yellow cake with fudge frosting, or devil's food with white frosting kind of girl. Maybe a 70s/80s wedding cake with cream cheese frosting. But the best cake is Fruit Basket cake from Freeport Bakery in Sacramento, CA. And they always have the best holiday specialties. The fruit basket cake: Three layers of golden buttermilk cake filled with fresh strawberries and fresh bananas. Frosted with fresh whipped cream. Served cold. Divine! https://freeportbakery.com

German's® Sweet Chocolate is a dark baking chocolate created by the Walter Baker & Company employee, Samuel German (hence the name), who developed the chocolate in 1852. He thought this type of chocolate would be convenient for bakers as the sugar is already added to it. It is sweeter than semi-sweet chocolate and contains a blend of chocolate liquor, sugar, cocoa butter, flavorings, and lecithin. Baker's® sells this chocolate which can be found on the baking isle of most grocery stores.
The most famous recipe containing German's® Sweet Chocolate is German Chocolate Cake (recipe here). This cake is very rich and consists of three layers of moist chocolate cake with a rich, sweet, gooey caramel flavored frosting, laced with coconut and pecans, in between. A German Chocolate Cake leaves its sides bare, so we can see both the frosting and the layers of chocolate cake.
