The best cake you have ever tasted?

Anonymous
Either bought or made yourself or someone else made?

Mine was a random chocolate cake at a random diner during a road trip. I usually don't like choclate cake because I don't like dry/crumbly cake but this one was so moist and amazing. I feel like it's so hard to find desserts that are excellent these days!

Wedding cake.

That's very difficult to say because I am sort of a cake slut and there have been hundreds if not thousands of cakes over the years, each very wonderful in their own way.

This is still the best cake imaginable when it comes to frosting (which it does-- cake is all about frosting!). I like it best on Devil's Food cake instead of the Red Velvet, but the classic Waldorf RV recipe is good too if you do it right.

Mine is just simple yellow cake with chocolate frosting- better than any other cake in the world, I think.

Mmm, wedding cake! Nothing like a classic white wedding cake with that white sugary frosting, IMO, though nowadays they're usually fancier with all kinds of flavoring...good, but I miss the traditional kind.

The best chocolate cake I ever had was at the Luna Grill in Shirlington, before it closed. But the best cake I've ever had was MedovnĂk, a honey cake, in Prague. I could live on that stuff. I keep thinking I should try making it at home but it has like a million layers and I am just too lazy.

Tres leches cake from a tiny bakery in Napa. A little slice of heaven.

It was a simple chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting from Riviera Bakehouse in Irvington, NY. Both cake and frosting were scrumptious. I liked that they kept it simple and just did an outstanding job at the flavor of the cake.

Black Forest cake at a small diner in London. I have never had anything even close to it.

I love the blue, yellow and pink celebration cake at Harris teeter. It's almond flavored and has about 8000 calories.

This is my favorite, too.

I have a friend who is a baker who makes fancy cakes. None of them are as good as a cake from a mix, IMO. Box cakes have a moist light texture, while cakes made from scratch are often dry, crumbly, and never as moist as box cakes.

The cake from the recipe on the back of the Hershey's cocoa can.

My grandmother used to make a cake with a topping of cornmeal and a little sugar. It was like a crackly layer.
