The best cake you have ever tasted?

Does anyone know where I can buy a real old fashioned German Chocolate Cake? All the ones I've seen in stores in Northern Virginia have dark fudgy chocolate cake and I believe the cake is supposed to be a lighter color and have a slight coffee flavor, not so chocolatey. I believe the recipe calls for buttermilk too. I can't find one like that.

The Amish Market in Annapolis has one that I think is prety traditional, so maybe look for an Amish market near you.

This sounds delicious (and the imagery is lovely). Would you mind sharing the recipe?

A friend convinced me to get one, and I didn't like it at all. De gustibus!

I have had two cakes from there. One was delicious. The other tasted like it had cough syrup dumped on it.

The birthday cake my mom made every year. Yellow cake with homemade chocolate frosting. Tastes like home.

Dude, are you the owner? Jenny Cakes is the worst cake I've ever eaten. I live nearby and love cake so I keep trying it, but i am always so disappointed. Thor yellow cake has the taste and consistency of cornbread.

Keep in mind it is "German" as in "german's (brand of) chocolate.

Using a different chocolate would inevitably give you a different color and flavor. None of which likely would be bad.
