You focus so much on race OP. I focus on gender. I don't care what color someone is ...they still want male power. I would like to see female power of all stripes so we could get rid of war and violence

DC just started issuing gender neutral drivers licenses and so has Oregon.
Are you open to "X" power also?

I think we will know after the civil war that is going to happen in the democratic party

First a little background. Hispanics are the new low class blacks and poor whites who are performing lower class jobs. Blacks and poor whites are increasingly on the margins. It remains to be seen if poor whites stay with the republicans.

Blacks currently have power in the democratic party (final gasps of the civil rights movement leadership) but they are no longer being groomed and pursued. Also some aspects of identity politics annoy blacks specifically the GLBTQ movement (religious/cultural reasons) and the Hispanic/illegal push which is direct competition for money and jobs.

The Hispanic population is still having a hard time getting organized but the demographics say its only a matter of time. In states that have higher Hispanic populations the Hispanic wave is already happening. This is where the civil war for the democratic party will happen. I can see it entirely plausible that the democratic party could have entire Hispanic leadership within 30-40 years Spanish might even become an official language of the US.

The real swing vote is the minority that no one ever talks about. Asians. The ironic thing about democratic identity politics is to this point no one is talking about Asians and their needs. If the republicans were smart they would be exploiting this. Since most Asians have higher incomes and wealth they are a natural demographic for repbulicans especially if the Socialist wing of the democraats prevails

So in summary its more about class than race for me except for the scenario where Hispanics take over the democratic party and push Spanish. If that were to happen I think Asians and whites would unite to keep it in check. Elites of all races will continue to be successful. The real people that are screwed are the mainly whites and some blacks in blue collar jobs. Most of them are already gone and we are seeing the negative effects in these populations. Black agitators should realize whitey isn't the enemy anymore its Hispanics and if blacks aren't careful they will lose any influence in the democratic party and become a permanent underclass.

But my reactions while reading this thread:

While it's true that "whites" will no longer be the majority, it seems more than a bit odd to assume that people of color will be one monolithic voting bloc. Whites will be a minority group only if the other category is "not white." But the other category is actually several different categories: back, Latino, Asian, mixed. Not only that but people within those categories will have wide ranging views and experiences. I don't know why I should assume that my fellow whites in rural Montana are more like me than the black couple who lives across the street from me in the DC suburbs or my Latina colleague at work. And of course, current voting patterns assure me that I shouldn't. And I'm betting I have more in common with, say, Michelle Obama than I do with Ivanka Trump.

Further, the chances that white families will become mixed are nontrivial. It's already happening to my WASP New England family: two of my cousins married black people, another cousin married a Latina. Hell, one of my uncles and I married Catholics and another uncle and my brother married Jews. So I suppose my WASP "culture" has been dying for some time now, lol. The only time I've ever rued this loss is in thinking about the disappearing Boston accent. But if course that has relatively little to do with race or even immigration, unless you count the movement of any non-New Englander into the area (including, say, Midwestern whites) as "immigration."

Having grown up in New England and now lived in other parts of the country, I don't think "white" is a culture in any meaningful way. I sure didn't feel that way when I showed up at a southern school for college 35 years ago. Amidst many (southern) whites, my culture shock was pretty profound. I do think regional differences have declined sharply in recent years, but I don't think that means whites alone have a shared culture and even if it did, it's a culture that's not very long-standing or deep-rooted. ~shrug~

I worry about what the future holds for my children and for my country, but not because of changing race statistics.

All of this (except that I'm not a New England WASP--I'm from a Mountain West working-/lower-middle-class family).

White people in America have zero culture. Which is going to make it easy for the take over and becoming minority. White people are known as culture vultures. They steal and adopt others cultures in an attempt to pass some of it off as their own ideas. This only sucks the whites into actual culturals which will be the demise of them all
