Question for White Americans about the future of US

Anonymous
In 30-40 yrs or so, you are projected to be a minority. Given current data on white births and deaths, it's likely to happen faster than this. It's highly likely you will remain in financial power for a few a while due to the sheer amount of wealth white Americans have amassed relative to other ethnicities, but the next 50+ years is projected to look radically different for you, and your kids. My question: Does becoming a minority subject to the rule of a majority concern you? Do you fear you will be treated like minorities of color are treated today, and have been historically? What do you feel the future will look like for white Americans?

Nothing is going to change. The wealthy, majority white, will continue to exclude everyone else.

Good. White Americans have the highest rates for attending college and for marriage. Minorities won't catch up until they marry and stay married.

I do think it's unfortunate that we seem to be losing "white culture". But- *shrug*- I suppose life will always be protected for those who want them to. Just like you see Latino neighborsorhoods where everyone speaks Spanish and the smell of fresh tortillas hangs in the air, I think there will still be country clubs, majority caucasian places with all of our interests. So... people adjust. Does it worry me? No. People are resilient

But its already started changing. Poor whites are getting a smal taste of it now. Hence the "racial anxiety" expressed in that group.

It doesn't worry me, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not aware of it. I live in a. area of the country, and specifically in a town, where Hispanics are already the majority. I really monitor my thoughts for bias, and it is for sure there at times. I sometimes feel frustration. But I see it as my responsibility to be open to change and adjust, it doesn't make me worry about not being "in power."

I also agree that the white rich will stay in power long after they're a minority. The impact will be first felt at the hyper-local level, as neighborhood demographics change, schools, city council.

I'm also an educated, well-off white person who isn't having any kids, so I recognize my own part in this change.

There are lots of underemployed, whites with multiple degrees saddled with debt, unable to attain the economic gains of their parents. it's interesting you assume whites will simply stay ahead of the curve simply due to college. Especially considering, minorities are increasingly representative in colleges pops. Also, lets not forget the impact of AI. Not sure college in 50 years will be an even moderately sure bet. Specialization and innovative skills will though.

Your people will be the first to go. If you fail to plan you plan to fail.

My kid is biracial and growing up in highly diverse DC metro area. She'll still be a minority because most of her peers will be Indian and white. It will still be vastly different than my upbringing as a white kid in Appalachia.

My reality already is different. My DH is African. We just went on vacation. The entire 16-hour drive I was very aware of the possibility of being pulled over by a racist, overzealous cop. Whether on vacation or not (but perhaps more likely in the south, who knows), he could be shot or even "just" arrested in front of our daughter and me. On vacation everyone was white and stared. It was uncomfortable for all of us but of course most uncomfortable for him. So I already live as a minority in a way. But I think white culture will always cater to white people and white standards, even if whites are the minority. Look at the Boers.

It's one thing to be a minority in your community. It's quite a another to be one in regards to power and representation. Have we truly seen a minority run state, w/ PoC strongly represented in legislature and governor? Cities, yes, but cities are limited by state checks. Or in the case of DC, Congress. I don't think white people truly have not experienced what it's like to not be in power. Money can only buy you so much. HRC can tell you all about it.
