We're white and poor, so it should have any impact on us what so ever. Plus, I'll probably be dead or close to it at that point. |
Thats a great attitude and I admire it. I work with youth for a living. Mainly black and brown kids, which includes dark skinned asians. This summer, the age group is 3-8th grade. I can tell you I have never seen them so motivated to do well. Its inspiring. But scary. They are also chomping at the bit. Politically. I'm not sure what that looks like in 30 years. |
It would if the government started criminalizing your activities. It's happening now with opioids in rural America and minorities aren't even in charge yet. |
FWIW, I also think we are seeing a bit of a push back from white kids, who I think are more aware of these things than anyone else. That's probably why Trump was really popular with the generation below millennials. I think many white people are kind of waking up and, not unfairly, wanting to make sure their culture doesn't get eradicated. I think that's just smart. Whatever culture you're from, it makes sense to want to advance/preserve it. |
I dunno. I kind of liked the eight years of "minority rule" (Obama, Holder, Lynch, etc) compared to the current shit show. Please remind me what I have to lose if minorities are in these positions again. |
More like Asians, Latinos and "mixed race."Question is, will it be reflective of how white Americans have run things. I'm not sure. |
OP (and others): you seem inordinately fixated on race. Why is that? |
I could totally see it from young white kids. I think it's a huge reach to believe whites will be eradicated. But history will not look favorablely on them or their parents. Especially with all rhetoric coming from the current administration and many of those who support its dog whistle style platform. I literally have groups of middle schoolers talking about going to law school to change things. Some want to accumulate wealth to create Latino serving hospitals. It's wonderful. But again, I'm unsure how these feelings will manifest them self in adulthood. |
This strikes me as the feckless sort of question that gets thrown out as a discussion starter at white supremacist group meetings. Or an opener for their direct mail recruitment letters. I think if fear of being treated as minorities have been treated is your primary concern in life, then you really should be worried because you're already there. I'll join the crowd concerned about the future of all Americans, because it's looking rather bleak at the moment. |
This thread has a racial theme, with a basic question. If it bothers you, check out a different thread. |
Black women have higher college graduation rates than any group of women. First generation Immigrants ( south Asians and west Africans ) have higher levels of education than whites . Keep living in your bubble , if you like it I love it |
There is truth to your comment, I'm sure. It's all BS of course. But if one is believes they are destined to become a marginalized minority why would the response be to piss off the kids who could potentially become your oppressors? I find that strategy odd. |
There is nothing new about that. |
Um - Why would this make me worried? People are people. I'm white. Most people in the world are not white. As a cosmopolitan nation of immigrants, the US is ceasing to be majority white. That is absolutely fine with me. The sooner everyone in the world becomes the same shade of medium brown the better. I hope my children marry people who don't look like them. |
Whites will continue to have the majority of wealth. In 30 or 40 years just more minorities to serve us. |
