Suburbia - Post Your Commute Time in Rush Hour

Wow, do you live inside the station? Do you also work as a station attendant at Gallery Place?

jealous much!

that you live in a subway tunnel? Definitly not.

Sorry, you feel the need to demean others because your commute sucks.

My commute involves walking to my home office, shower optional. I'm most definitely not jealous that you take the metro daily-LOL!

The train takes exactly 18min from TS to GP, so why is it demeaning that I assume you live in the tunnel? When i take the metro (i live in Chevy Chase a stones throw from Friendship Heights metro), i still have to walk to the metro, get in the station and wait for the train. I then have to get off the train, out of the station and walk to my destination.

Ding ding ding. As I said before- people have a way of selectively clocking their commute time. yeah, if I only count the time literally on a metro train, my commute is only 15 minutes.

Olney to Cleveland Park - 38 minutes, driving - on the road at 6:45 a.m.
The way back is 45 minutes at least, at 4p.m.

N. Arlington - leaving the house between 8-8:30 am, takes about 40 minutes to my office (one block from the WH).

In the evening around 5:30, roughly about 25 minutes - mostly to get across the TR bridge.

Oops sorry - it takes me 18 minutes!

Google maps lists the commute from Takoma Park metro to Gallery Place metro at 17 minutes, and although that's clearly an approximation. I'm completely outraged that you'd shave a whole minute off you're commute!! LIAR!!@#$

The point is that unless you live inside the station, and work in the station, you are probably shaving off a minimum of 10 minutes since you don't account for actually getting into/out of the station (Gallery Place has several escalators and is very crowded at rush hour; don't know about TP but some stations are really deep and even if you walk the escalator, it's at least 5 minutes). And if you don't live / work practically next door, then you aren't counting the time it takes you to get to the metro and to the office. Duh!

Is it that hard for people to admit to themselves they have 30-45 minute commutes from Takoma Park?

Federal Triangle / N Arlington. 45 min. Drive to Rosslyn and take Metro.

So many haters on this...of what I don't know.

From my $2mn georgetown mansion to my office: 15 minute walk.

SUCK IT LOSERS.

The driving times listed are pretty useless if there's only a vague description of the origin and destination.

I'm in Friendship Heights. Door to Metro is eight minutes, Metro time averages 20 minutes from FH fare gate to Metro Center fare gate (did you know WMATA keeps stats in your SmartTrip account now?), then I walk seven minutes to my office. So, 35 minutes.

Reston to Reston- 7 minutes with heavy traffic, 15 minutes with daycare drop off.

Bethesda (just across Western) to Georgetown at 7:00 am: 11-14 minutes from starting the car to turning off the car, depending on the lights. A 5 minute walk from the garage to my office (saves me $60/month, and cuts 10 minutes off the commute home, based on the position of the garage entrances). Tack on another 5 minutes if I get coffee.
Returning home at 6-6:30 or so: 5 minute walk back to car, then 20-26 minutes home, depending on traffic (a different route). If I'm later that 7:00, which happens once a week or so, driving time is about 18 minutes.

W. Falls Church to Penn Quarter

~60 minutes via bus and Metro. Bus stop is a block from home and the Metro station is a block from my office.

I actually love my commute because I have time to read and relax.

Takoma Park (not within walking distance to metro) to Judiciary Square area ~ 40 minutes driving but can easily be up to an hour. Leave between 7:30 and 8 am / 5:30 pm.

Been awhile since I took metro but if memory serves its about 30 mins door to door if I get dropped off at the station and 40 if I take the bus.
