| You need your husband on your side on this. Your kid is going to kill someone. Your husband is going to lose everything he's ever worked for as a result. |
You and your husband need to have a talk and get on the same page. In the meantime, make your oldest son park that Jeep in the garage. If you're in the DC area, buy him a Metro pass. He doesn't even deserve to get on Uber at this point. |

Oh well that's just lovely, OP. How do you know your teenager doesn't drive like this with younger siblings in the vehicle?
Grow up, be a parent. Take away the vehicle and live with the inconvenience. If your dh is still sooooo annoyed, then he can do some of the carting around, too. |
| My son would be going anywhere he needed a ride except school and work. |
Would not. Of course |
|
I've responded before but OP.. given your attitude and your husband's? Perhaps the only effective "punishment" is going to be a major accident. Hopefully it doesn't involve anyone but your son and his all important jeep.
Maybe THEN someone will clue in to the seriousness, and live with the inconvenience of him not being allowed to drive for a bit. |
| I guarantee OP ignores this and never mentions it to her DH or son. |
+1 |
| DH is a stupid prick. Only an idiot would buy that kind of vehicle for a kid. |

Is there a way to cut off texting through the phone plan for a week or two?
Take the keys. Maybe even call your sheriff and have him come pay a visit for a lecture/scare him straight. Sounds so crazy- but trust me. TOTALLY works. Every teen needs to see videos and pictures of what happens to texting & driving victims. It'll scare you straight as well. |
I looked into this before and all they can do is turn off data, but kids can still text. It's just a green text instead of a blue iMessage. |
|
Everyone should watch the Warner herzog film on texting and driving.
It's only 35 minutes. |
| The hypocritical faux outrage in this thread is funny. I'd guess 75% of people overall text & drive. Teens see mom and dad do it, so they do it too. |
95 mph? |
Teen boy exaggerating. |
