No the HOA filters and purifies the air. Sorry that you gave to smell the stink of Blue Plains |

NP. I live about a mile north of the US Capitol building, and I'm feeling a hell of a lot of anxiety, lately. Maybe your superiority complex has become a handicap. |
|
Christ, I hope not. I still have PTSD from the last time those thugs ran amok in Baltimore and our garage got looted.
Plus, we're going to Wolf Trap on Friday night and I don't want to get caught up in some big protest trying to get home. |

I'm the OP, who asked whether or not this Day of Rage was a hoax. We were planning to go to DC - to a restaurant just a block away from the WH - and will have in tow elderly parents (87 and 91) and a teenaged girl.
I might get flamed for this, but we're modifying our plans. There's no way of knowing whether this thing has any "legs," and while I suspect that a protest, if there is one at all, will most likely be peaceful (and small), it seems imprudent to take even a sliver of a chance, especially since I have responsibility for other family members who are more vulnerable. Factor into the equation that there are plenty of nice restaurants out here in suburban Virginia, and that just seems to make more sense. And just to head off any incoming criticisms that one can't be afraid to live, we're not. We have a nice vacation planned next month, involving airports, and continue to venture fully into the world. But in this case, where a downtown trip is so unnecessary, why continue with plans for the very evening and in the very location when a protest - maybe a hoax, maybe not - is planned? After all, there IS a chance that a protest can reel out of control, as we've unfortunately seen, so....why risk it? Finally, if there is a protest, I hope it will remain peaceful. We've had enough bloodshed. |

Try Applebee's. |
Ha! We've narrowed it down to Applebee's or the Capital Grille. They're both similar. |
No they wouldn't. And that tells you something |
Capital Grille has a wine list. Applebee's has wine coolers. |
Good for you. Also, this "day" of rage is supposed to start at 7pm not a "day" thing at all. I hope it's not true because anything like this at night turns into bad news every time. |
| We're in downtown Baltimore and are staying hunkered down and ordering in Chipotle tonight. ArtScape starts today, bringing hordes of people, some nut shot at a bunch of cops last night with an AK-47...feels like a tinderbox here. Probably nothing will happen but we're staying in. The heat and humidity only exacerbate things here. |
Evening of mild discontent? |
Grill with an "e" -- how chi-chi. |
You know, you can't avoid your fate. Have you ever heard of "The Appointment in Samarra"? http://www.k-state.edu/english/baker/english320/Maugham-AS.htm |
