I don't understand the criticism of those who live in the suburbs.
If people didn't live in the suburbs, they would all live in the city.
Is that what you want?

Np. Planned urban communities. Take away the suburban bubbles, take away the white man's and white woman's ability to avoid The Other. And no, I don't care that you have an Asian friend that you see three times a year.

So what? do you hear yourself? I bet you think you're open-minded...and I bet you live in the city. Maybe we're avoiding people just like you.

I chose the suburbs because a) my job is there and b) I got a lot more house for my money. Not everything is about race.

...good schools, I like my yard.

I like open space and clear air. And my kids can freely run around the 'hood. not lots of traffic

Did Trump already build the wall necessary to keep your air pristine?

We live on two acres in what DCUM considers outer burbs. no intense car fumes, exhaust from large vehicles
lots of open space - You can see the sky and the stars. It's lovely.

Enjoy Ashburn.

PP is NOT describing Ashburn.

My suburb definitely has more diversity than NWDC.

I know! That's the funny part. Go to SS, or Rockville, or Gaithersburg and it is way more diverse than Upper NW DC. Yet these people are so proud of their urban-ness.

My period is due on Sunday. I'll definitely be raging tomorrow.

According to yahoo home page there is something going on about this day of rage

The Army has warned its troops stationed in the United States to avoid more than three dozen specific U.S. cities on Friday because of alleged anti-police protests that could turn violent.

Called "Day of Rage," the protests are slated to be held in 37 cities across the U.S. and are being organized by the Anonymous hacker group.

The day of rage already occurred in Nice, France. It is still Ramadan, so be prepared for anything.

I live in the suburbs and am surrounded by black and brown people. And we have had protests in our neighborhood because of some high profile people who live here.
Sorry, Skippy, but "the city" is not the only place with a diverse population.

Oh puh-lease, Ramadan has been over for days now. If you're going to be hysterical at least get your dates right.

Came back to this thread after a few days to find out it had deteriorated into a squabble over whether people choose to live in the suburbs or the city. Guys, please, can we please not rehash that old argument?

A number of Federal (DoD, Army, Air Force, etc..) and states are warning of a potential of issues on July 15. So there appears to be some evidence that concerns the intelligence community. The question is what will happen - minor protests with a few 7-11s knocked off or something out of control with more AA killed by the police. Hard to predict. But it is going to be an interesting week - France attack, Republican convention, the Trump card, something else will likely pop up. Just remember the old saying - God watches out for America and Children.

Most likely a few liquor stores will be robbed to feed their thirst. Also cash for drugs. More will die from overdose than by the police. I am not a fan of police tactics and have been harassed myself (in college and as an adult) but the facts are the facts. I do hope we can do Better in the future and the cops have gotten Better over the last few decades. But much work is needed.

its sad to think there will be more BLM protests tomorrow, and more police might never go home tomorrow night. And we still support these protests. Or make excuses, it was dissipating, it wasn't someone paid by BLM, or officially on some BLM name list, just a mere FB like, blah blah. It has nothing to do with BLM. has nothing to do with hate towards police. . .

PP is correct. If you contribute to society your lives tend to mater more - just saying.

Who really knows if it will pan out. If it does (violent or not) no positive change will come out of it just more of the same - guilt by both sides.
