| There is a lot of security (federal police, DC police, Capitol police, etc.) that will be deployed of this is, indeed, true. |
Sorry, hit "submit" to soon. Anyway as I was saying, there is a large enough security presence in DC that I wouldn't worry about being unsafe. |
| Perhaps the officials want to down play it so it does not get too much attention. |
OMG, the first sentence screamed hoax. The second one put it in lights. |
| Another AA who lives in DC and active on social media. Never heard of this. Are these legit news sources you're hearing this from, OP? |
Snopes http://www.snopes.com/2016/07/11/anonymous-day-of-rage-protests-2016/ Anonymous 'Day of Rage' Protests A rumor that the hacktivist collective Anonymous has called for nationwide 'Day of Rage' protests on 15 July 2016 is identical to a false rumor circulated in 2014. |
| Anyone close to the protesters that can shed light. |
| They have had these failed attempts before. I would not loose any sleep over it. The organization is not there. |
OP here. No, they are not legit sources and hence my suspicion that it's a hoax. Absolutely nothing is being reported via "real" news media, and someone else further up this thread said it's been discounted on Snopes. We've taken all that into account and decided we're fine going. (I hope I didn't cause anyone concern.....it's just that we'll have a teenager and our elderly parents with us, and we wanted to be extra cautious.) |
| Yep no one can provide any credible evidence. Although these things can arise out of no where - I doubt that it will happen this Friday. Besides they are calling for thunderstorms. |
| Pp is probably correct no organization. But once in a while things can pop up and surprise you. |
I thought unarmed meant you do not have a gun on you-both Alton and Philandro had one.... |
| No. Day of Rage is everyday! |
Try to relax. Deep breaths. If you find yourself getting progressively more nervous as you leave boring old Fairfax, just embrace your suburban fears and own it. |
| Some people choose the suburbs because of better schools, lawns for kids and garden and quiet at night. |
