Condo Roof Top Hazard- question/ wwyd

And what can they do about me putting on here where I live and who manages the property? Just curious. They already harass me. It would be very difficult for them to evict me. My landlord isn't going to. What can they really do?

If you really were violating rules, they can start fining your landlord. Depending on your lease, he can pass those on to you. If you really are violating building rules, he can evict you.

Doesn't sound like either is the situation for you tho.

Landlord is a friend. He says he will not evict us and has tossed any letters he has gotten. We haven't broken an rules that allow for them to fine us.

The tenant advocate office doesn't have any weight here. Sorry folks who are encouraging her to go to them. This isn't an apartment, she's renting a private residence. If her landlord was doing something like selling the place out from under her, then sure, she could go to them. But they have no ability to get in to mediate the OP fighting with the condo board and the management.

They could take court action or fine him. Even friendships are tested when your behavior is poor. He may have no choice. Why would you want the drama?

What kind of legal action could they possible take against our landlord since we haven't violated any laws. Bike lock at the pool is hardly grounds for eviction. I'll take the lock down right now and call a good friend at DCRA to come inspect the roof. Not a problem at all. Also when I asked for the condo rules or whatever they said I'm not entitled to them.

They don't have to give them to you. It is your landlords responsibility to provide them to you. The building's relationship and management of such is with the owner of the unit. Not a renter.

My landlord requested them via email a year ago and they never sent them. Why can't a renter get a copy from management?

Because you are not a unit owner and do not have any ownership rights. This includes all property documents. The association has no legal responsibility to interact with you as you have no property rights.

Again, if you want a copy of the documents you must get them from your landlord. It is your landlords responsibility to follow up and obtain the documents.

Actually a bike lock could be grounds for eviction.

Because if you have a one bedroom apartment and a child, the condo rules or local government ordinance may require that you have a two bedroom apartment. That may be a reason the condo board is concerned about you even without your other behavior

OT 100% but pretty sure there are rules and regulations regarding rooftop access to areas that go to the edge of the roof. At the very least a sign saying do not enter. This chair in the pool thing is stupid. She did it once after seeing it done before by swim instructors, was told not to and stopped. What's the big deal?

I own in my building and have sat on the condo board. A lot of people in buildings hate children. It's very true. Especially renters with children. I feel like she is being targeted. It just doesn't seem right.

If a neighbor made noise and someone asked me, I'd tell the truth and say yes but unless it bothered me, I wouldn't complain or make a fuss. That shouldn't put a target on this family's back. A party for an old manager shouldn't either. It's just strange and seems like a bit of a witch hunt.

You have fallen into OP's web

They say that my child's fingerprints on the lobby doors lower the value of the property as a whole. They hate children. They even made me remove my blackout blinds in the baby room because it's "against" regulation although the not in writing to have anything but standard blind up.'they are horrible. I'm harassed daily by the property manager who literally looks for my child to touch something or make a loud noise and break the noise violation code. It's horrible and I feel helpless.

OMG, we live in a building like that, but it's more the residence who hate children.Rumor has it that kids under 4 were not allowed at the pool about 8 years ago and prior. The pool rules overrules a federal law. Kids get yelled at by elderly residents when they speak in the corridor and so on. It's so sad.

Just like on airplanes, in close confines small children are to been seen not heard. I do not want to be woken up from a nap or disturbed from my work by children screaming or running up/down halls. I pay way too much money for that.

No you don't, you live in a multifamily arrangement. Noises others make are a part of the deal. Buy a house if you want perfect control over your surroundings.

You posted he touches the walls, windows and all kids of other stuff. What you think may be respectful, may not be to someone else.

Of course a 2-year old touches the walls and windows. It's normal. The manager should be told to hire cleaners. It's her job.

OMG, I have to share that I'm addicted to this post. I just can't stop myself from checking it repeatedly during the day. It is like watching one of those really horrible reality tv shows. Keep up the good work, OP!
