My neighbor has seemingly shoveled snow all night long-explain this to me

Why didn't you get your bossy, lazy ass out there then, princess?

Yep, We have a young retiree brigade on my court who practically race each other to shovel first, take in their garbage cans first, etc. One of them even sweeps the street. They are basically batshit crazy.

It is just pathetic,yes.

+1. We stopped at 11 pm, but we were out there every couple of hours just to avoid having to deal with 2 feet of snow at once. Heading back out now.

Or, maybe he simply prefers to shovel smaller amounts of snow rather than 30" at once.

I don't get people like you.

MYOB, OP. Stop being so petty, and you might get somewhere in life.

Sorry about your sleep.

Yep, this is OP and this is what I think. He seriously needs some other hobbies. The attention to snow is the same as the leaves (he will pick up single leaves from his yard and his mulch obsession) and I am not the only neighbor to notice. And he always parks his third car right behind our driveway so it's difficult backing out and never talks to us. Did I mention our neighborhood has no sidewalks? We are only talking about his driveway. And for all the people saying it's easier to go in stages--I don't buy it--unless there's melting 24 inches is still the same amount of snow to shovel whether you break it down in multiple sessions or do it in one session.

You don't quite seem right OP. Wonder what the neighbors say about you behind your back.

then get a push shovel.
clearly you have not pushed enough big snow in your life.
I like bed on Mt Hood for six years and had to snowshoe to my house six months out of the year. I had to build snow stairs to get from the road to the house. I know snow. Wet, dense Oregon snow. If the guy is shoveling a paved surface as often as op says he is then a push shovel will do the job.

Anonymous wrote:Is agree with you OP. Really obnoxious behavior. If you have to shovel because you are anal, do it quietly. For many of us sleep,is invaluable and on the rare morning when we have no work, school, sports, or church to drive to, please let us sleep.

I actually have a white noise machine because I don't trust others to protect my sleep. My kids have them too. Too many a$$holes out there who don't give a damn if you need some sleep.

If sleep is that difficult for you to attain you are absolutely correct in doing everything you can to protect it. But please be clear that it isn't anyone else's responsibility except yours. Congrats for doing exactly what you should be doing.

Then you're as stupid as you sound in every post. Or you've never actually shoveled any snow. Or, most likely, both.

Don't bother with the nasty people, OP.

The truth is that shoveling early or late doesn't really change anything

You should always have 6 inches or so in your shovel anyway, whatever there is on the ground.
You should always take rests, especially if you're unused to intensive cardio.

I'm shocked this wasn't my neighbor as he is similarly anal about his postage stamp sized yard, but he did wait until a reasonable hour to shovel. I did have neighbors out shoveling around 10-11pm, but one was making sure there is a parking spot for his sister to come back, she's an EMT and at work. Another had to make a path for the dog to go to the bathroom. I also heard the plow come through a few times last night, but it was a single pass around our court, not clearing everything.

That's not the truth. It is MUCH easier to do small amounts than 2' all at once.

My kids just shoveled out our 80-year old neighbors.

What is with all the nasty people getting angry about snow-shoveling????!?!?!!!

Lazy. Lazy people get angry when then see people doing work. Shoveling sidewalks is actuall the law.

Exactly. It changes the work-load and makes it much easier to do repeat passages. I can't imagine just starting now when it's well, well over a foot. Not bright.
