the only way she would've had stronger hooks is if she was a boy

How do you know this?

Because it's easier for boys to get into college. Affirmative action that no one talks about.

Does that make you feel better about your/your child's mediocre academic credentials? Some of the most pitiful people are those who try to tear others down to make themselves feel better.

Spare me. Lauren Bush (granddaughter of Bush I) had SAT scores well below the average Princeton student and a B average at a Texas prep school. Yet somehow magically got into Princeton. People whine about affirmative action for black people and other URM but when it's a white person it gets magically lumped under legacy admissions or 'development cases' and no one makes a fuss.

+1. That's because those who have the gold make the rules.

And I will call out the hypocrisy everytime I encounter it.

I doubt that it's even true that she is going to Harvard. Someone said it on here and everyone believes it?

She was almost GDS. The Obamas originally wanted their kids to go to GDS, but reportedly the Secret Service nixed it because of security and traffic concerns about GDS' Palisades campus. That's how the Obamas wound up at Sidwell.

This is one of the reasons why the new GDS campus is being designed with security and egress in mind, so that in the future the school can attract high profile VIP protectee students. Losing the Obamas still rankles.

Again, it is not true that the Secret Service wouldn't allow the Obama girls to go to GDS. Sounds like someone at GDS is bitter.

Harvard claims it regularly rejects highly qualified people, and many more people could easily handle Harvard than Harvard can accommodate. I think Malia (and probably at least 1/4 of the kids in a school like Sidwell) can succeed at a place like Harvard, and isn't necessarily being given any unfair advantage.
But I am also sure most schools won't turn away such high profile youngsters.

Notoriety can definitely play a part. I'm still trying to figure out the popularity and appeal of Kim Kardashian. I'll wager if she came calling with open checkbook and wanted to return to school, she just might garner a top ten seat somewhere.

Heh. I'd be happy with AU. Of course my kid would actually have to earn it.

By earn it, do you mean putting 25 to 40 hours into schoolwork outside of the classroom? About the range for "average" Sidwell student.
